Snippet #1:
Frustrated, I remove my ball cap and thrust a hand through my hair. “Dad, relationships are not for me, okay? I’ve seen what it does to couples. All the pain and heartache. I don’t want to go through all of that.”


“You already are going through it. She’s your game changer, Bo. Girls like her don’t come around often. I’m telling you, you better snatch her up before someone else does.” All the playfulness is gone in his voice.


“She’s with some tool already.” Did he not hear me say that?


He arches a brow. “Are you sure?”


No, not entirely sure. “I overheard Cassie talking to her a couple weeks ago. She said the words, “You met a guy?”


“Just don’t assume, Bo. Call and talk to her. You might be surprised.” With a parting pat on the back, he gets up and goes back inside the house.


I sit here, contemplating my conversation with Dad. I can’t deny I have feelings for Jess, but love? No way. Maybe if I call her like Dad said, I might feel better.


Getting to my feet, I get in my truck and drive home. During the drive home, I manage to not talk myself out of calling her. It shouldn’t be that hard, right?

Snippet #2:
As I do the walk of shame back to my dorm, I think back to what Ryan told me before I left.


“If the pain ever gets too much, call me. I’ll be waiting. I won’t call you though, Jess, you have to call me.”


I didn’t tell him one way or the other because I didn’t know how to respond to that.


Faith still isn’t back when I arrive so I drop my bag on my bed and head straight to the bathroom for a shower.


Like always, my mind drifts to Bo. I wonder what he thinks of me. I could tell he was holding back from saying everything he really wanted to say. Doesn’t matter now, he’s made it clear that he isn’t going to let Faith go. He shouldn’t because Faith is perfect for him. She can give him all that I can’t. She’s happy with life while I’m constantly depressed. Bo doesn’t need a girl like me in his life.


It’s why I can’t go back to Brilliant. I need to go somewhere else to start over.

He took a step closer and shook his head, looking hotter than she’d ever seen him. His hands still rested in his pockets and his serious deep-blue eyes stared at her. “You don’t have to be scared of me.”


“I actually don’t trust myself, Jake.” She switched her weight to her other leg and rolled her eyes.


“Why? You think you’re going to jump me?” He chuckled as he took his last step to her. “I wouldn’t mind.” His gaze traveled over her face, as if he were memorizing every freckle.


He wanted more. Hell, she did too. But then what?


“So, you think that after I jump you, all this will go away?” She pointed back and forth.
“That this attraction will be out of our system and we can continue to be friends? Is that how it works for you?”


He clasped her body tightly to his, his hands wrapped around the sides of her waist, his breath on her face. “What I know is we’ve passed the line of friendship already, so we should just stop holding back.”

Jake leaned in closer, running his hand down her arm. “Know what I’m thinking?”


Amanda fiddled with her coaster and smiled at him. “I’m not sure I want to know.”


“I’m thinking we should spend a lot more time together.” He reached over and held her chin. “It’s been way too long.”


Amanda licked her lips, and damn it, it actually turned him on. Sweet little Mandy Larson wasn’t so sweet anymore. She was driving him crazy.


She moved closer bridging distance. “Why wait? There’s no time like the present.”


“Exactly.” He drank the last of his beer as the waiter returned with her martini sans olive.


Jake leaned on the table with his elbows, folded his hands together and studied her.


“Look at you, drinking a martini, living the life in New York City.” He examined her from head to toe. “A sexy skirt. Tall boots.” He ran a finger down her cheek. “A beautiful face.”


Amanda hiccupped and put down her glass. “Now, wait a minute. I know it’s been a while, but some things never change, including you.” She wagged her finger at him. “No smooth talking with me. Don’t forget I used to know you better than anybody.”


Because his fingers actually ached with the need to touch her again, he reached over and held her hand. “Yeah, but things have changed, Mandy. We’re two different people now, and I can’t wait to get to know who you are now.”

He smiled and in a hoarse voice whispered in her ear. “Big Apple Virgin.”


Amanda cleared her throat. “I’m no virgin, Jake.” She leaned into his muscular body, and wiped her lipstick off his lips. “You may be in for a surprise tonight, too.”


She walked ahead of him and sashayed her hips more than usual. After a few steps, she stopped, peeked across her shoulder and said, “If you play your cards right.” She heard a growl behind her as she continued toward the boat, feeling Jake’s eyes on her.

“Did you get lost again, you live down the hall.”
“No, I brought you some fries.”
“You brought me fries?”
“Truffle fries actually. Sarah said you kind of moaned when she mentioned my truffle fries earlier.”
“She said I moaned about you?’
“About my fries. So, I brought them and myself to your door.”
“Well come on in then, although I don’t recall moaning.” She absolutely did, but he didn’t need to know that.
“Maybe you smiled. I’d rather make you moan than smile, but I’ll take either.”
“And I’ll take the fries.” She held out her hand so he could pass them over.
She lifted one from the bag and took a bite of the crunchy salty goodness and then she really did moan. “Okay mission accomplished, you made me moan, you can leave happy now.”

Snippet #2
Mitch knew it was just a coincidence he’d run into Min. She was one of a handful of people he’d run into today. Moose had jogged past him at the park and invited him to dinner tomorrow night. He’d stopped to get gas and Dave the local policeman was at the other pump and when he’d gone into the diner half the town had been there. And he may have heard Mins name mentioned in whispers more than once. Patty had been holding court with her gaggle of minions. Running into the beautiful woman seated beside him improving the look of his truck exponentially was not destiny, even if it felt like it.
All she’d bought was a small block of cheese. Clearly, she was planning to do something with it.
“What’s the cheese for?’
“Meatballs and spaghetti.” His stomach, the betraying bastard groaned. “I gather you like meatballs.”
“I do. They’re a classic.”
“I’m going to have extra. I’ll drop some over.”
“You don’t need to do that.” His stomach rolled again.
“To say thanks for the bike, and the lift home.” Large raindrops were pelting the windshield now. “I’m pretty happy not to be walking in this.”
He looked over at her. She was looking at him with those baby blues so he couldn’t resist. “Okay, but how about you eat it with me? It’s kind of sad for us each to be eating alone.”
“Okay. I’ll just come down the hall when I’m done.” The town wasn’t big so he pulled the truck up outside the building minutes later. He stopped under the portico so she could exit without getting wet.
He watched her go, her perfect pear-shaped butt heading in the door and up the stairs. He knew he shouldn’t be looking at that butt or wanting that woman but knowing didn’t stop it from being so.

Author Bio:
I am an Australian author who writes contemporary women’s fiction including chick lit and romance.
I have written all my life especially as a child when I loved to write short stories and poetry. At University I studied Creative Writing as part of my Communication degree. Afterwards I was busy working in public relations I didn’t write for pleasure for quite a few years although I wrote many media releases, brochures and newsletters. (And I still do in my day-job!)


When I began to write again I noticed a trend – writing dark unhappy stories made me unhappy. So I made a decision to write a novel with a happy ending and I have been writing happy stories ever since.

I am the author of five stand alone novels including Mr. Right and Other Mongrels and Hearts Afire and the Upper Crust Series. Many of my novels focus on an Australian characters meeting and visiting US characters.

I have been a member of the writing group The Writer’s Dozen for ten years. Our anthology Better Than Chocolate raised over $10,000 for the charity Room to Read and helped build a library in South East Asia. I am also a member of the Romance Writers of Australia. In 2015 had a piece on writing chicklit featured in the successful Australian non-fiction book Copyfight.

Snippet 1


I’m unattractively sobbing on the sofa when I suddenly hear a throat clearing behind me. I jump up from my seat in panic and turn around to see who’s walked in.
My eyes run from his spotlessly polished shoes, up his perfectly pressed trousers and over his waistcoat and crisp shirt until I reach his eyes. They are dark and staring daggers at me. His glare renders me motionless but my heart starts to race. A huge part of me wants to run, run as far away and as fast as I can from this situation. I’ve barely had this promotion two hours and I’ve already screwed it up.
I square my shoulders and stand up. I wipe the tears from my cheeks with the backs of my hands as I wait for the ear bashing I’m about to get for slacking on the job.
Only it doesn’t come.
As I stand looking at him I see his eyes change. They started off hard and vicious but as the seconds have ticked by they seem to be softening. I must be mistaken though because there is nothing about the man stood in front of me that’s soft. He is a ruthless businessman who tramples on anyone who gets in his way. I have no reason to suspect he’s going to go gentle on me just because I’ve shed a few tears. I raise my chin slightly to him as I prepare for him to tear a strip off me.
He opens his mouth to say something but what comes out shocks the hell out of me. “Are you okay?” His voice comes out different to what I’ve heard before. There is no harsh demanding tone instead there’s concern. Weird.
“I’m…uh…” I stutter because this is so unexpected. I thought I’d already be on my way home with my P45 in my hand by now. “I’m fine. I just received some news and I…” I don’t continue because I realise that he really doesn’t care, he’s just trying to be kind. I appreciate that but I’m here to do a job. “I’ll just get on with it,” I say gesturing to the room.
I pick up my phone and go to walk past him. I don’t make eye contact. I’m scared he’ll return to his usual self once I get back to work.
I go to step past him but I’m frozen to the spot when he moves and clamps his hand around my wrist. I daren’t look up at him. Firstly because I don’t know what I might find looking back at me and also because he really doesn’t need to see the fresh tears in my eyes.
“If you need to go and have some time,” he says.
I’m so shocked by his words that my eyes snap up to his. Close up they look bluer than I thought they were from a distance.
“It…it’s fine, honestly,” my voice quivers as I say this showing that I’m anything but fine really.
“Well, if you’re sure,” he says hesitantly. I can only presume that being in the presence of an emotional woman isn’t the norm for him.
He holds my eye contact and I’m powerless to look away. There are only inches between us. I’m surrounded by his scent and his kindness touches me. Then I do something so unlike me and so utterly stupid that I can’t even comprehend it.
I lean forward and kiss him. I actually kiss him!


Snippet 2
As I walk around to the driver’s side I can’t help being unsure of whether I’m pleased or not that people fall for this act. But then I guess I’ve played the part for so long now that it’s almost normal. The suits, the money, the flashy cars. Lilly might have the impression I’m something impressive but under all this I’m far from the person she thinks I am. I know she’s thinking that she’s not good enough for all this, but if she only knew the truth. That she is the one that is way too good for me.


Snippet 3


I let out a huge sigh and crack on while trying to put all memories of last night and this morning behind me. Obsessing over them will not help me in the slightest.
It’s a shame that my little pep talk doesn’t help because I’m totally lost to the feeling of his lips on my body when a throat clearing behind me makes me jump. I drop the bathroom cleaner and sponge I had in my hands in fright. I spin around and gasp at the sight. My heart starts racing and my temperature instantly increases.
Lucas is stood in the doorway wearing a black hoodie with the hood up over his head and a pair of grey jogging bottoms. The hood comes down to his eyebrows and the shadow it causes makes his eyes look even angrier.
I swallow down a lump that’s formed in my throat. He looks dangerous, like he could seriously hurt someone, weirdly I have no fear though. I know he won’t hurt me. This shocks me because after everything I’ve been through I’d have thought this would set me on edge.
“I need to use the shower,” he states coldly.
“Uh…right…yeah.”
I gather up my stuff and get out. I can’t stop myself from turning back to look at him as I walk away though and of course he catches me. And just to torture me further he pulls his hoodie off exposing that stunning tattoo to me. Frustratingly he doesn’t shut the bathroom door so as I go about dusting the bedroom all I can picture is the water running over his hard muscles.
I need to get a grip.
It’s only a few minutes before he appears with a towel wrapped around his waist and water droplets running down his chest.
“Lucas, can we talk a minute.”
“No, I’m busy. Just do your job, Lilly. It’s what I pay you for.”
His vicious words cut me. They actually hurt.
“I thought you took the morning off,” I say with as much strength as I can muster because I don’t want him to see that he’s affecting me.
The look I receive in response to my question instantly has me cowering away. Now that’s the Mr. Dalton I knew of before I started working up here. A ruthless and powerful arsehole. As much as it hurts that he’s reverted to that when he’s never been anything but kind to me actually grounds me a little. This is what I was expecting; this is how it should be.


Snippet 4


Some of his memories must have been lingering in the background though because when we get back to our hotel room he drops the bags he’s been carrying on the floor before disappearing into the bathroom.
I listen as the water starts running. I argue with myself about what to do. Do I stay here and wait for him to reappear or do I go and join him?
In the end I decide to strip out of my clothes and head for the shower. My breath catches in my throat when I get there. He’s stood with his head bent forward with the water cascading down his back.
The opening of the shower door catches his attention and he looks up at me, but it’s not with the kind of heat in his eyes that I’m used to. I don’t think he even notices that I’m naked.
I step inside and pull the door shut behind me. I stand right up against him and place my lips to his. Just like earlier it takes a few seconds but he soon responds and within a minute he has me backed up against the tiles with my legs wrapped around his waist.
By the time he’s finished the shadows have totally lifted from his eyes and I have my Lucas back. I hate the idea of him hurting so much when he thinks about the past but we will have to talk about it at some point.

# 1
“Gin.” I pant out his name but he doesn’t listen to my desperate plea. He only continues his torture. Trialing down to my core where I want him to go. My hips rise off the small bed but he pins me down.
“Don’t make me get out the cuffs babe.” I can hear the humor in his voice but in the back of my mind I know he means it. Know that he would love nothing more than to strap me down and have his way with me. The thought of it gets me even hotter. Before I can move again though, his mouth seals over my sex and I cry out from the contact.
Pleasure zings through my body as he flicks that bundle of nerves until I’m falling. Falling so far that I don’t think I’m ever going to stop. “Don’t fall asleep on me now. You started this. I’m damn sure going to see that you finish it.” My eyes fly open at his declaration. I watch as he strips off his clothes, being sure to place his cut on the side table.
When he drops his jeans, I prop myself up on my arms to look him over as he pulls down his boxer briefs. His dick springs free, weeping at the tip just begging for attention. “On your knees babe.”




# 2
“What?” I hiss but he still doesn’t speak. He only moves.
Moves closer to me. He is on me in an instant, his mouth on mine, his hand sliding along my leg toward the juncture on my thighs. The other palming the back of my head to hold it in place. “What?” I whisper, cut off again when his hand reaches its destination and palms my mound. His tongue invades my mouth, dueling with my own for dominance. The moan that slips from me is swallowed up, each one that leaves my mouth as his hand makes its movements, stroking along my covered center.
He hits right along my clit, the fire igniting inside me and I explode. I can’t move much due to the seat-belt and Gin pinning me to the bench seat but it doesn’t matter because my body goes lax as he lets up on his mouth and hands.
“All mine babe.” He says along my swollen lips giving me one last peck before he slides back over behind the wheel and drives out of the parking lot.

I’m a new Author dabbling in both contemporary and dark romance. After reading a certain series (I’m sure you can guess which one) I was hooked and have been reading since. Statistically, I was more likely to die in a car crash. I knew because I’d researched it when I decided to take my first flight. In fact, I was more likely to die of food poisoning than the plane crashing. Just my luck, it would be the food on the plane that killed me. The same research told me take-off and landing were the most dangerous and likely times for a crash to happen. And it was that little nugget of information that had my stomach churning like it was on the high-speed setting of my Magimix. Had me grasping the boarding pass between my shaky fingers, holding onto it like a life preserver, the ink smudging from my sweaty palms.

Our entwined hands rested against his thigh and his thumb traced across my wrist.
“I fly a lot. And I’m no stranger to high-risk situations.”
Well, that was…intriguing. “Really? Are you a paratrooper or something?” I licked my lips and he looked away from me. The muscle in his cheek twitched like he was stopping himself from confessing some deep, dark secret.
He glanced out of the window and said, “Or something.”
Huh. Vague much? But then he had every right to be. If we weren’t in this situation, we would probably have spent the duration of the flight ignoring each other. Polite chitchat as we manoeuvred around sharing the same cramped space for so long. I was saved from trying to come up with a reply by the crackle of the announcement system.

Liz has lived in a lot of places including The Middle East and southern Spain. But her heart has always been in Lancashire where she is originally from in the UK. This picturesque county in the northwest of England is the inspiration for many of her books.

I’ve been waiting to ask him this question since yesterday, but I had to be certain we were alone first. Going through the foster system as much as I have sucks on so many levels. I may have made it to the eighth grade, but there’s so much I don’t know, and nobody to ask except my new best friend.
“Uh, so…do you know…what a twinkie is?”

“The Watering Hole…it sounds like a pee trough or something.” I shake my head and lay my phone down next to me, willing myself to fall asleep before I do something stupid. The idea waffles back and forth in my mind for almost fifteen minutes. I don’t know what the heck makes me do it, but my finger hits the link to download the app before I can stop myself.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” I mumble. Within about fifteen seconds The Watering Hole app is on my phone and I’m opening it to see what happens. Will there be a list of guys I can just choose from? “I bet they’ll all be mega nerds who boast what big dicks they have.” I snort. “‘Cause you know, they speak Spockly and carry big dicks.”

I watch as she reaches for a bottle of lotion. She squirts some into her hand and looks up at me again. “You are about to taste like hot buttered rum.” She says. “My favorite.” She licks her lips and runs her hand up and down my length spreading what must be a flavored lube all around me. I gasp as a cool sensation spreads at her touch, and hold my breath for what she might do next.
She’s going to do it.
Breathe.
Shit.
Breathe Jack. You got this.
