When not attached to her laptop, USA Today Bestselling Author Robin
Bielman
can almost always be found with her nose in a book. A California
girl, the beach is her favorite place for fun and inspiration. Her fondness for
swoon-worthy heroes who flirt and stumble upon the girl they can’t live without
jumpstarts most of her story ideas.

She loves to go on adventures, and has skydived,
scuba dived, parasailed, gotten lost in the wilderness (and only suffered a
gazillion bug bites for it) hiked to waterfalls, and swam with dolphins. In her
spare time she also likes to put her treadmill to good use while watching her
favorite TV shows, take hikes with her hubby, indulge her sweet tooth, and play
sock tug of war with her cute, but sometimes naughty dog, Harry.
She dreams of traveling to faraway places and
loves to connect with readers.

Linda Morris is a writer of contemporary romance. She writes stories
with heart and heat, with a joke or two thrown in. Her book Melting the Millionaire’s Heart was an Amazon Top 100 Series Romance bestseller. Hard Hitters, her series about a fictional minor-league baseball team in
southern Indiana, is available from Berkley.

When she’s not writing, working as a freelance editor and technical writer, or
mommying, she’s doing yoga, reading, working in her flower garden, or baking
delicious things she probably shouldn’t eat. She believes that there are two
kinds of people: pie people and cake people, and she is definitely one of the
former. Her years of Cubs fandom (and their 2016 World Series win!) prove lost
causes aren’t always as lost as they seem. A beat-up old copy of Kathleen
Woodiwiss’s Ashes in the Wind was her gateway drug into the
world of romance novels, and she’s never looked back.

Candace Clark was born in Ashland, Kentucky, the youngest of three children. After growing up in a small Eastern Kentucky town, her family moved to Central Kentucky where she finished high school and attended her first two years of college at Transylvania University. Transferring to Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia set Candace on a path that would change her life. Over the course of ten years she graduated, moved to New York City, attended Parsons School of Design and found her creative voice.

After years of studying design and photography, she finally took to the page unleashing the ramblings of stories, characters and scenes trapped in her mind. Finding inspiration reading romance, mystery and suspense novels, she draws her creative vision from many sources. When not typing away at her computer, she can be found cooking up some recipe she has undoubtedly altered to suit her family’s food sensitivities, crafting with her daughter, or enjoying a peaceful evening with her partner on their secluded farm in Central Kentucky.

While writing is her passion, her family always comes first. An avid reader and hell of an editor, her daughter is a great help with every story. As in most great love stories, her partner, Billy is more than just a supporter, he is a contributor of ideas, plot lines, characters, and a dialogue whisper, without whom the worlds in her novels would not be the same.

She’s the Hellion of Hyde Park…

A foolproof plan to avoid marriage:

  1. Always carry at least three blades.
  2. Ride circles around any man.
  3. Never get caught in a handsome duke’s arms.

Wild Highlander Mary Elizabeth Waters is living on borrowed time. She’s managed to dodge the marriage banns up to now, but even Englishmen can only be put off for so long…and there’s one in particular who has her in his sights.

Harold Percy, Duke of Northumberland, is enchanted by the beautiful hellion who outrides every man on his estate and dances Scottish reels while the ton looks on in horror. The more he sees Mary, the more he knows he has to have her, tradition and good sense be damned. But what’s a powerful man to do when the Highland spitfire of his dreams has no desire to be tamed…

Ever since Christy English picked up a fake sword in stage combat class at the age of fourteen, she has lived vicariously through the sword-wielding women of her imagination. A banker by day and a writer by night, she loves to eat chocolate, drink too many soft drinks, and walk the mountain trails of her home in North Carolina.

Harry had just begun to find his rhythm as he dug up the parterre rosebushes so that Simmons might plant them along the east-facing wall when he heard a thump and a curse that belonged on the docks or perhaps on one of his ships at sea.

“Damn and blast it!” the girl said again. “Now I’ve ruined another gown, and Ma won’t give me an allowance for any more.”

He looked up then from his work, knowing what he would find, for it seemed he knew the girl’s sultry voice already.

His siren from the carriage an hour earlier had wandered back into his domain, and had fallen in one of the holes left by the vacated rosebushes, her pink traveling gown covered in a long streak of ochre. He sighed, the last vestige of his peace falling away like the last bit of an orange peel. He watched it go, then turned to the lady, expecting tears at the very least, followed by sniffling and the need for his filthy handkerchief.

He wondered for one benighted moment if the girl had heard from the staff that the Recluse Duke was in the garden and, as a result, had come hunting him. His flesh began to cool, both from horror and from the sea wind touching the sweat on his shoulders. He wished for his waistcoat, which he had abandoned somewhere in the stables hours before, just as he wished for his friend Clyde to appear and occupy this woman with charm while Harry affected his escape.

Harry reminded himself that he was a gentleman and reluctantly started to help the girl out of her hole, when she straightened her skirt and leaped out of it on her own, apparently unscathed.

“Are you the blighter who left this gaping chasm so close to the path?” she asked.

Harry blinked and nodded. “I am.”

She seemed to want to say more, but perhaps she was remembering that she was a lady, for she drew a breath and let it out on one long exhale. “Well,” she said. “And this is what comes of letting a stable boy get into the garden. Hand me that shovel there, and be quick about it, before your head gardener sees this mess.”

He blinked and obeyed, and then watched as she filled the hole in the space of five minutes, layering the soil loosely so that it might breathe, then packing down the top with a flourish. She found the bag of crushed seashells bleached white sitting close by, and she covered the hole with a liberal amount of those, so that the next person who happened by might not trip as she had done.

Until he stood by and watched a beautiful woman fill a hole in the garden, the skirt of her gown pulled tight over a delightfully rounded behind as she worked, Harry would have said that he was a civilized man. Something was clearly wrong with him, for he had not fled, nor had he offered to assist her.

“I ought to have helped,” he said as she finished.

She leaned on her shovel and surveyed her work with what he could only assume was pleasure. His siren tipped her head back and took in the slanting rays of the afternoon sun on her skin. The summer days were long in the North, but the sun was cool. She seemed to drink it in like mead, before she turned her smile on him.

“And ruin a fine job?” she said. “I think not. You’re better off with the horses. Has his Royal Grace the Duke too few men to work for him, that a decent man of horses finds himself shifting among the flowers, then?”

Harry had never heard himself referred to in such a blasé yet disrespectful manner. He felt a frisson of irritation. He thought of revealing himself to this girl then and there.

But her curls were falling from their pins in a delightful disarray, catching the light of the sun with hints of honey brown and gold buried in them. She had the coloring his mother once had, when he was still a boy in short pants.

He put aside all thoughts of his mother and her plans for him, as his day had as yet been a pleasant one. He did not want to think of his mother and of all he had promised her.

Instead, he turned to the girl and offered her his arm.

“Might I escort you back to the house?”

“God forbid! I just escaped from there.”

“I am told the house is very fine,” he said, feeling slightly miffed.

She laughed at him. Her laughter was warm and sultry, as her voice was, but completely free, as if she were a courtesan who had been born into the wrong life. His siren did not seem to notice that he had not spoken again, nor did she seem to care for anything he might have said. She stopped laughing at last and handed the shovel to Simmons, who had appeared out of the bushes at the sound of her mirth.

“I’m off to find the sea, but I thank you.” She nodded to Simmons, who bowed to her. She frowned to see him do it, a bit of darkness coming into the maple brown of her eyes. But she rallied at once, so quickly that Harry was not certain he had seen the shadow at all.

“Try not to fall in a ditch on your way back to the stables.”

She sauntered off then, her rounded derriere swaying. Harry stood staring after her like a fool, not even offering her a farewell. He felt the eyes of his man heavy on him, and Harry shrugged to Simmons before he took off after her.

About Emily Cyr

emily-cyr-author-picEmily Cyr is a stay-at-home mom turned writer. She holds a degree in middle grades education with certification in English and social science. She has always had a love of all things paranormal and fantasy, but it wasn’t until Emily’s husband said the words, “Why not?” that she considered putting her thoughts and ideas into the book, The Lightning Prophecy. This trilogy was just the start for Emily. It seemed to open a creative door that had been locked.

Emily has always been an avid reader. Through reading came her love of writing. The more she read, the more she knew she wanted to create her own world. Many of her first works were fan fiction.
Emily and her family currently reside in Jacksonville, Florida. She has an incredibly supportive husband. They have two sons, ages 2 and 3. Somehow, even with the demands of being a parent to two little boys, she finds time to escape to her fantasies and write them down.

Though this is Emily’s first published book, it will not be her last. She is currently working on book two in the Lightning Witch Trilogy and book one in the Vampire Favors series, titled Push and Pull.

These are a few of my favorite things…about watching TV:

  1. Watching TV is a huge luxury for me. Let me rephrase…sitting in front of the TV with my feet propped up on the coffee table or ottoman is a huge luxury and one that I don’t indulge in nearly enough. My days are a whirlwind of working, cleaning, cooking, carpooling and writing. So those rare moments when I relax back and watch TV are truly cherished. And when it happens, I’m all about vegging and mindless entertainment. I don’t want to remember too many facts, or learn to build a ship or fly a F-16. I want to laugh a lot and maybe wipe my eyes from a few heartfelt tears.
  1. Favorite shows: sitcoms, comedies, reality TV top the list. Anyone who knows me can attest to my obsession with Project Runway. The house could be on fire and I will not budge from my seat if PR is on. My family knows to either vacate the premises or zip their lips, because I will not tolerate any interruptions during my favorite show. My kids got me hooked on The Goldberg’s, laugh-out-loud sitcom depicting the outlandish 80’s that I remember only too clearly. And then there’s Shark Tank where I’m always yelling, “Take the deal, for the love of God!” But those entrepreneurs never listen to me and still seem to come out on top.
  1. When I really want the feels, I love to watch old movies and musicals. Please, no eye rolling or snorting, because I’m a huge fan of singing and dancing. Huge. I probably have most songs memorized from all the classic musicals like Oklahoma!, Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Funny Girl, Chorus Line, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Cats, South Pacific, A Little Night Music…okay, I’ll stop before your eyes glaze over, but you catch my drift. I was watching movies and musicals long before I could read and they’ve had a profound impact on me. My love for romance first stemmed from musicals. Happily ever after is performed right before your eyes with violins, choreography, and a rich baritone voice that will melt your heart. (swoon) What’s not to love? I always get that bubbly, happy feeling from the perfect costumes, pristine scenery, amazing choreography…and that first kiss. When I write, I’m always aiming for that musical crescendo in the end. I want the surrey with the fringe on top, or people who need people, at the very least some enchanted evening. That emotional high that makes you want to burst into song!
  1. Watching TV feeds my creative juices. My favorite movies I’ve probably watched ten or twenty times and have committed the dialogue to memory. So then I’ll watch to study the movements and non-verbal communication. This works even better with the sound turned off. You can sense the stress, happiness, anger, or boredom just by watching the actors’ expressions and how they move, or even better, how they don’t I find it interesting and enlightening and also helpful when describing emotions using non-verbal communication on paper. I’m forever searching for new nuances in hopes that I can incorporate them in my writing.

What are your favorite things about watching TV? Inquiring minds want to know!

Forgetty picked up her cell and began dialing.

“Who are you calling now?” he asked.

“Jill, how the heck are you?” Forgetty said with a bland tone, speaking to his assistant. “We’ve got a situation.” Forgetty listened for a moment. “Nope, Belch did not superglue himself to the Empire State Building again.” She listened and then laughed. “Ouch. Yeah. I forgot about that rope burn accident. But his junk appears to be intact and enjoying its usual fresh air.”

Belch grumbled at Forgetty, knowing that she and Jill were discussing the time Cimil dared him to walk a tightrope over the Grand Canyon. Blindfolded. A very bad choice because when he slipped, he hadn’t been wearing any clothes and…well, his balls took the first hit. He then fell to his death. Luckily, however, when a deity’s body was destroyed, they were sent back into the cosmos, where they could return to the realm of the gods—if they weren’t currently banned—or return to the human realm with a new body. The whole process usually took a few days since the gods depended on sacred portals (aka cenotes, aka underground springs) in the Mexican jungle to rebuild them one molecule at a time—very low-tech, but tried and true. Still, ruining one’s human shell hurt like a sonofabitch.

Forgetty continued her conversation with Jill over the phone. “Sadly, this is a serious matter. Belch has got to find his forever someone or he’ll turn evil and be locked up. I’m putting you in charge of keeping him sober.” A moment passed. “Hello? Hello?” Forgetty pulled her cell from her ear. “I think she hung up on me.” Forgetty dialed again. “Voicemail! Can you believe her?”

“Was going to fire her anyway. I think I’ve gone weeks without pants.” Oh well. Belch shrugged, feeling his throat dry out and hearing that frosty cold beer calling his name. “How about a beer to celebrate going on the wagon?”

“No!” His sister shook her finger. “And so help me, Belch, if you touch one drop of alcohol, I’m going to—”

Forgetty’s cell beeped, and she took a peek. “Cimil is calling an emergency midnight meeting at her office.”

“Wow. We’ve never had one of those before. Must be important.”

His sister gave him a look.

“What?” he asked defensively.

“You turning into a threat to humanity is important. And we just had an emergency meeting last week.”

We did? “You must’ve made me forget.”

“I’ve never used my powers on you, brother.”

Really? Because he could barely remember the last ten thousand years.

She added, “It’s also against our laws to do so without permission.”

“Then why’s it all a void?”

“Uhhh…because you’ve been wasted for more millennia than I can count. But not like you’ve missed much. A few near misses with the apocalypse. Cimil got married to Roberto, the king of vampires, and had evil half-vampire, half-divine quadruplets, and…a bunch of the other gods got married. Even Votan has a son.”

The God of Death and War is a father? I definitely need to drink a keg. ASAP. “When did this happen?”

“Over the last couple of years.”

Gods. He’d only been sober for two minutes and already realized how much he’d missed.

He looked at his sister and blinked hard. Whoa. That’s what she looks like?

Mistaking his expression for despair, Forgetty reached across the bar and squeezed his hand. “Do not worry, brother, we’ll figure this out.”

“No. It’s not that.”

“Then what?” she asked.

“I always thought you had four eyes and two heads.”

“Ha. Funny.”

“Who said I was joking?” He really wasn’t.

“All right. I need to finish getting everything ready for tonight’s party.”

“Oh, is it ladies’ night? I love ladies’ night.” Just last week, he’d gone home with five women, who pleasured him all night long. That was the nice thing about being a deity—women found them irresistible. Their scent, their hypnotically sexy turquoise eyes, the divine energy wafting from their bodies. In his case, his very large cock was also a nice chick magnet. There was never a shortage of admirers. The only downside was that a god’s energy could kill a person—fry their brain—if the god didn’t make them wear a very special black jade to help absorb their potent powers. He personally had a lovely collection of black jade bracelets back home.

You mean the taco truck?

Oh yeah. Burned down my house. He’d have to go shopping tomorrow for a new house. Maybe I’ll go big this time and buy a bouncy castle.

“Well, I’m ready to help welcome the women.” He rubbed his hands together.

“You’re getting locked in the closet until I leave for the meeting,” said Forgetty.

It was only eleven in the morning. “No. I’m not.” He defiantly took a seat on the stool again.

She reached out and grabbed his arm. “Acan, listen to me. The party is over. And you need to grow up. Your reckless teen years are over.”

Grow up. Grow up? I’m the party god and this party ain’t ever gonna end!

“Are you going to serve me or not?” he growled.

“Not.”

“Fine.” He rose from the barstool, his bare ass making a qwiiip! sound as it peeled off the vinyl cushion. “I’ll see you at Cimil’s office.”

“Hey! Where are you going?” his sister yelled as he headed for the door.

“To do what I do best!”

“Belch! Dammit! No more partying!”

Screw that. If he had to find a mate, he wanted one who knew how to throw down and worshiped at the altar of wine like he did, not some teetotaler. Going to find myself a real woman. Fit for a god.

BLITZ! MATCHSTICKS AND CANDY CANES BY C.E. WILSON AND MARY DUBLIN

Love can thaw the fiercest winter.
In a society where elves are no longer creatures of myth and magic, Brynne Mirren is just trying to survive the holidays as one of Santa’s Rejects. Loyal to her duty as the eldest child, she stands outside in the freezing cold and sell matchbooks—not that anyone would buy anything from an elf. Each fruitless day is the same without exception until her path crosses with Carter Holly. Persistent though he is, she can’t help but wonder if he has an ulterior motive.

After all, very few humans look kindly on elves these days.

Days before Christmas, Brynne’s life takes a drastic turn and she is forced to trust the gentle stranger in the darkest time of her life. Carter Holly continues to surprise her, stirring up new feelings within her with every act of kindness.

Though the threat of freezing along with her matchbooks is very real, Brynne can’t forget that falling in love with a human is even more dangerous.

Matchsticks and Candy Canes is the first book co-written by C.E. Wilson and Mary Dublin.

EXCERPT:

Carter still couldn’t understand how this young woman was supposed to be a witch. If anything, she was more like an angel.

His eyes drifted over to the thick cap tightly secured around her ears, supposing that pointed ears were hidden under the wool.

“Thanks,” he said, keeping his voice soft. He slowly reached out for the matchbox, but the girl still pulled away as his fingers drew close, practically dropping the matchbox into his palm. There was no punishment. There was no magic. She’s not a witch.

EXCERPT:

“Here,” he said, jogging across the street and reaching for her hand. She squeaked as he dropped the two quarters into her palm. “Here’s half of what I owe,” he whispered before holding up a finger to his lips. “This is for you.”

“I shouldn’t—”

“Just for you,” he emphasized.

He smiled only briefly before he jogged back across the street, acting as though nothing had happened. As though he hadn’t taken a huge leap of faith by touching her. Luckily, no one saw. He stole a curious glance at the girl across the street, wondering if he had crossed a line, and was glad to see her with a look of wonder on her face. She looked across the street and for a brief moment met his eyes.

“Thank you,” she breathed with a soft voice that pooled like mist in the winter air. He smiled back at her.

Perhaps this winter would bring something more than more snow and sweets.

AUTHOR BIOS:

C.E. Wilson is currently living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her husband, beautiful daughter, fat beagle and two cats. She loves Supernatural, leggings and shoujo manga. When it rains she feels at peace and loves a sweet cup of coffee with way too much sugar and cream. She loves the fall because of football and all things pumpkin. Her favorite subject to write about is size difference, but she enjoys to try her hand at all things fantastical.

Mary Dublin has been writing fantasy stories since childhood. Growing up where the sun is always stronger than the coffee, she maintained a fascination with worlds that can never exist. More than ever, Mary finds joy in putting these worlds to the page through words and paintings. She enjoys pilates, rainy afternoons, and bakes a mean batch of double-fudge brownies. Matchsticks and Candycanes is her first published work.
