REVIEW! SAFE AT LAST BY MAYA BANKS
They say young love doesn’t last, but a girl from the wrong side of the tracks with unique abilities and the hometown golden boy were determined to defy the odds. For Zack Covington, Anna-Grace—his “Gracie”—was the one. Until one night forever alters the course of their future, when a devastated Gracie disappears without a trace, leaving Zack to agonize over what happened to the girl he loved. As the years pass, his desperate efforts to find her uncovered nothing.
Now working for Devereaux Security, he stumbles across a painting featuring a special place only he and Gracie would know. The image is too perfectly rendered for it to be coincidence. His Gracie must be alive. When he finally tracks her down, he is shocked—and heart-broken—to discover the wounded shell of the girl he once knew and still loves. Her psychic gifts are gone, and worse, she believes he betrayed her all those years ago.
Zack has enemies, and once his weakness is discovered, Gracie becomes a target for revenge. He’ll have to save her before he can earn her trust and her love. And he vows they’ll never be torn apart again.
I am a fan of Maya Banks. I love her books and I was grateful for the chance to read Zack and Gracie’s story.
Zack is the all American golden boy and Gracie is the “wrong side of the tracks” girl that he falls in love with. One minute Gracie is there and the next Zack’s whole world is different. He struggles to find his place in a world that doesn’t involve Gracie and finds that nothing is the same. When he finds out that Gracie is alive, he knows that their love is meant to be and wants a second chance with Gracie.
Couple of things about this story. First, it triggered for me. Just a heads up to folks that have had a bad experience, this did it for me. It was hard for me to read for a bit. I liked Zack but sometimes I wanted to reach through the book and smack him in the head. Move on, man! I liked Gracie but there were times when I just couldn’t connect with her. I found that she didn’t seem to have as much faith in the love of her life as I thought she should have had. Everyone reacts differently to a trauma though, so I shouldn’t judge. While I like the security angle that Zack works, I would have like to see him as a professional football player. That would have been awesome. 🙂
This was a different kind of Maya Banks read for me. While I liked it, it was not my favorite in the series. I look forward to more in the future.

BOOK SYNOPSIS
EXCERPT (Unedited)
Before she could fire, Kerry let off another barrage of plasma bolts into the river, then leapt toward her and ripped the severed tentacle from her leg. It flapped around on the wet grass. She scrambled to her knees, still slightly winded and fired at the hideous thing. The foliage around it flared for a moment with an eerie green flame and the tentacle shrivelled into a slimy black mass, emitting a pungent odour and causing her to gag for a moment.
“It seems I was mistaken about the creature being dead.” Kerry prodded the smouldering mass with his boot and looked across over the water. “It is now.” He leaned down and grasped her wrist to haul her to her feet. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I don’t think so.” Her shoulder was sore and probably bruised but she’d live. She tried to control her shivering. The incident affected her more than she wanted to admit. Kerry’s proximity, naked to the waist, his lithe body shining from the water droplets that still clung to his skin, his legs swathed in tight black leather, did nothing to help. The last thing she wanted was for him to realise how scared she’d been when she thought a snake attacked her. “Thanks. That was close. It would have been a bit ironic if I’d been killed by the same creature I saved you from.”
She realized he still grasped her wrist. She tried to move away, but he pulled her back, obliging her to turn to him.
“You are trembling.”
“I’m fine.”
“No,” he said. “You’re not.” He pulled her closer and his eyes softened, his gaze holding her mesmerized. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but in the same instant he put his hand under her chin and his lips closed over hers.

Release Day Blitz & Review! VAMPIRE LEGACY by ELLA J PHOENIX
Publication date – May 1, 2015
Publisher – Self Publishing
Word count – 115,000
When Tardieh discovers a letter from his late father, he opens a door to old memories. The letter from Petran is a tale of intrigue, attempted murder, and betrayal, but leaves more questions than answers in its wake. Petran, the King of Vampires, an ancient monarch known for his cunning ploys and many lovers, knows the animosity between draconians and vampires is brewing in Romania.
Upon discovering his draconian neighbor has fallen ill with a strange Curse, Petran is determined to discover the cause, and a cure. In doing so, he finds an unexpected ally in his neighbor’s daughter, a striking Draconian Duchess. All Lady Natalia, the Duchess of Moldavia, wants is to save her people from a Dragon Lord’s tyranny but she’s only a woman, who has no place meddling in politics.
With his health failing, her father has big plans for her, so when the King of Vampires agrees to help her find a cure for the Curse plaguing her people and her father, Talia begins to see him as more than an old family friend. He awakens desires in her she knows she should not have but cannot resist, or deny him.
With utmost skill, Phoenix has delivered the origins of this amazing saga in a most magical and historical-fiction fashion! Petran and Natalia are surrounded by every reason imaginable not to become involved, but going against all odds always makes life more interesting. It was wonderful to get the story from the beginning, and the author has tagged my favorite genre in the process. While still saddened from the losses that occurred in the previous installment, reading about Tardiegh’s father was enthralling. I loved the characters, the intrigue, betrayal, and passion!
As usual, the writing style and descriptive nature pulled me in immediately, not letting go until the page was blank. The paranormal hierarchy and races are uniquely intertwined with legend and histories that existed, or could be imagined from reality. I just adore this author, and she ended this in Ella style; Leaving me wanting more!
Great read & you’re just NUTS if you don’t get it while it’s free!
Vampire Legacy (Book 4)
About the Author
I was just nine years old when I discovered my passion for the paranormal world. That passion led me to a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts where I had my first taste in writing, conjuring children’s plays and re-writing Shakespearean masterpieces to suit the modern times (Yes, he’s still cringing in his grave).
After years travelling around the world, translating other people’s novels and devouring paranormal romances, I realized the real world wasn’t fun without a touch of magic, and decided to purge my own crazy stories into paper, well, into word doc, to be more precise. My busy life with a demanding full time job and a very loving husband (I’m so not complaining!) doesn’t allow me much spare time, but somehow every night I find myself in front of the computer, exorcising the millions of stories stored in my sanity-challenged mind.
My novels are tales of love and passion between strong female leads and hot heroes, bathed in paranormal magic, of course. I live in Sydney, Australia, the land of koalas (which are not bears), kangaroos (which are not boxing champions) and Vegemite (a black spread that should have never been invented. Seriously, don’t try it).

BLOG TOUR! MAKE ME FORGET BY BRANDY LYNN

“I am not your sweetheart.” I’ve never been a fan of nicknames which is why I’m so upset at his callous use of one. Just hearing the word ‘sweetheart’ makes me cringe. That term is not a term of endearment for me. It brings back memories. Memories that I don’t want unleashed and demons that I don’t want chasing me. I’ve spent years ridding myself of those dark times and I do not want to go backwards.
