BLOG TOUR STOP! REVIEW BY BRANDY! INAPPROPRIATE THOUGHTS BY IAN DALTON (@TastyBookTours, @iandaltonbooks)

Blurb:

The first in a new erotic contemporary romance series, Inappropriate Thoughts is a scorching mix of desire, sex, love and slightly inappropriate comedy.

Jillian Grayson is a disillusioned divorcée and best-selling romance novelist who can’t write a chapter without her hunky male heartthrob suffering ED, an STD, or even worse. Brian Nash is a tennis-obsessed, college senior who’s unlucky in love and the roommate and best friend of Jillian’s son, Rob. When Rob brings Brian home for spring break and he meets the surprisingly young and also tennis passionate Jillian, their shared interest quickly develops into an intense mutual attraction. After nearly giving in to their feelings, they hatch a plan, while under the influence (of something more than just the perfect Miami night), to be friends with “partial” benefits complete with rules to define the boundaries. Will the lonely pair continue with this distinctive relationship, actually explore their desires or will they discover all of it is a really bad idea?

READER ADVISORY:
This story contains content some readers may find objectionable, including explicit sex and language.

Inappropriate Thoughts is a more explicit version of Friends with Partial Benefits.

Series Description:

Best friends Jillian Grayson and Victoria Wilde could not be more different. Victoria, a widow who has really gotten on with her life, is wild, carefree, and living life to the fullest while Jillian, recently divorced, is a bestselling romance novelist who is straight-laced, proper, and reserved. That is until Jillian meets Brian Nash, the young, hunky best friend of her college-aged son. These two women provide the vantage point on the hilarious and steamy world of the Friends With…Benefits and the Victoria Wilde series. Filled with strong, sexy women and fun-loving, real men, the books are at once playful and very sexy; light but large-hearted. If you love sexy contemporary romance with a healthy dose of fun then this series is for you. Uniquely available in two heat levels, one version or the other is sure to be for you. Ian Dalton’s Victoria Wilde versions contain approximately 7,000 more words with expanded scenes and more explicit prose while Luke Young’s Friends series is written with a little left to the imagination. Rest assured that both versions contain the same level of laugh out loud fun.

Excerpt:

Jillian Grayson sat up in bed, typing away on the keyboard of her laptop computer. She wore a nightshirt that wasn’t all that sexy, but what she was typing was… or at least it started out that way…

Dallas lay in bed, unable to sleep and wondering if Katrina was suffering the same fate—and for the very same reason. Did she want him as much as he wanted her? Katrina was but a few steps away, yet he dare not go to her, for he was a guest, and then there was Katrina’s mother, who was just across the hall. For Dallas, sleep came minutes later, but it would be short- lived, for soon Katrina stood over him, completely nude and pondering how to proceed…

Dallas must have been in a deep sleep, since he didn’t feel it when Katrina peeled the sheet carefully off him, exposing his muscular body, six-pack abs, and sizeable manhood. She quivered when his impressiveness sprang into view. For a long time, she kneeled next to the bed, just studying his body and savoring his scent. Taking his sex into her hand, Katrina worked it until it was rigid while she watched him sleep. When Dallas woke, he looked into her eyes, swallowed hard, and whispered, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

Just as fast as his sex expanded, it lost its firmness and flopped against his leg. Katrina looked down at it in disappointment and then moaned in frustration. “What’s wrong?”

Dallas said sheepishly, “Sometimes that happens to me. Sorry. Ever since I cheated on my wife with that whore in the pool, I haven’t been able to—”

Jillian stopped typing and thought she might be heading in the wrong direction with this. How did her ex-husband get into the story? But then again, most men are assholes, she thought.

Picking up the glass of wine from her nightstand, she took a long sip and then replaced it. She highlighted the last paragraph about Dallas’s problem, hit one key, and it was gone. Just like his boner. She laughed out loud.

Jillian wasn’t exactly in the correct frame of mind to write at the moment, especially on this particular subject. She stared straight ahead and wondered about the likelihood of Dallas slipping in the shower, striking his head, and dying instantly. Or maybe an earthquake could strike, and Dallas’s amazingly perfect body would be trapped under a giant beam.

What the hell kind of name was Dallas anyway? She thought she might want to give her character a real name like Stewart but figured no one would believe that a guy named Stewart could give you six consecutive orgasms in one night.

What was she doing, anyway, writing novels about people having amazing sex when she’d never had any? Okay, maybe once or twice twenty years ago, but none since then. She had no right. If people knew that she was the one writing these books, they wouldn’t buy them. She was a fraud.

Jillian picked up her wineglass and took another long drink. She grinned, wiped those unhelpful thoughts from her mind, and started typing again…

Katrina took his sex in her hand and worked it until it was rigid. As she studied it closely, Katrina noticed two red bumps on the underside of his pathetic excuse for a penis. She recoiled in horror—

Jillian hit the backspace key to erase everything after Dallas’s “sex” started expanding. Romance novels about erectile dysfunction and STDs weren’t exactly big sellers. She closed the lid on the laptop and tossed it gently onto a pillow at the foot of the bed. She emptied her wineglass with one last sip and turned on the television.

Jillian Grayson wrote under the pen name of Jaclyn West. She’d written fourteen bestsellers so far and had more money than she needed flowing in, so her next novel could wait. The book royalties had paid for her large, beautiful house in Miami. She still had plenty of money, even after the divorce, which forced her to part with nearly half of her earnings to her bastard ex-husband.

She’d never forget the day she came home early from a book tour and found George performing oral sex on that slut in the pool, the pool she had paid for and an act he rarely, if ever, did for her. Jillian always thought he hated oral sex or, more specifically, he hated the giving part. But there he was, naked, standing in the shallow end of the pool, and going to work on some other woman as she floated in the pool on a ring, which Jillian had also paid for. The pool oral sex thing actually looked like it might be kind of fun, and Jillian often wondered why George had never once tried that on her.

That day, when Jillian spotted them from the second floor balcony off their bedroom, she had watched for a little longer than she’d care to admit. Maybe that was because all her erotic romance writing had left her desensitized to sex, at least a little. At first, it didn’t seem real; it was as if she was visualizing a scene for a book, not watching her husband cheat on her.

When she finally came back to earth, Jillian left the house and went to the side of the pool. She snuck up on the adulterous couple and stood there until the woman being serviced noticed they had an audience. The woman tapped George on the shoulder to get his attention. When George turned around, he had a guilty look on his face that Jillian would never forget. Jillian wouldn’t let the naked woman back in the house to get her clothes. She simply threw the clothes out the door. The woman was forced to get dressed outside and shamefully leave through the back gate. George went into the house, got dressed, and left through the front door. It was the last time he ever set foot inside.

Jillian didn’t cry that day; instead, she put on a pair of kitchen gloves and retrieved the ring float from the pool. When her attempts to drain the float of air through the valve seemed to be taking too long, she stabbed it ten times with scissors. That could possibly have been overkill, but it did the trick and gave her a much-needed outlet for her rage. Jillian called a company to have the pool drained, scrubbed, and refilled at the cost of fifteen hundred dollars. It was worth it, she thought, because she would never have been able to dip a toe in the pool until every last drop of that contaminated water was replaced.

Review:

HOT!  There is no other way to describe an Ian Dalton book!  The story is about a sexually frustrated romance writer.  Most of us have been there I’m sure!  It involves a middle aged woman and her son’s best friend.  I thought that would be a tad weird for me but nope, I am thinking a boy toy would be fun!  The relationship is spicy and full of stimulating conversation.  NOT!  The sex scenes explode off the page and make you wanna grab a cold shower.  It was nice to see the backside of a successful writer and see the block that happen to all of us.

This series is riveting and I can’t wait for more.  Jillian and Brian are a fun and refreshing change from the usual couples.

Authors of contemporary and erotic romance, Luke Young is Ian Dalton – well, sort of… Ian Dalton is Luke Young’s erotic alter ego. Don’t read this to say that Luke’s stories are anything less than steamy, but there’s still some of the erotic play-by-play that is left to the imagination. With the Ian Dalton editions, nothing is left to the imagination. Well, almost nothing, anyway. In essence, Each book on the Luke side has an expanded version available on the Ian side.

His Friends With… Benefits and Victoria Wilde series are based on the same laugh out loud stories with the Ian versions containing about 7000 words (around thirty pages) of more explicit and expanded sex scenes. BLOG TOUR STOP AND GIVEAWAY BY SARAH! In the Nick of Time by Sylvie Fox (@TastyBookTours, Crimson_Romance, #giveaway)

BLURB:

Hot nights, huge consequences.

Divorced and done with her dry spell, Holly Prentice is ready to get back in the game. But with two conditions: her future mate can’t be married to his career, and he has to have a couch. Nick Andreis loves his job, and his only furniture is a king-size bed. He’s also single, sexy, and six years Holly’s junior. Any guy this hunky and carefree can’t be serious about the future.

After one spontaneous and explosive night, Holly decides that her search for Mr. Right can wait. Nick can be Mr. Right Now.

Nick has waited years for Holly. Now that she’s dating again, he’s determined to be the only man in her life. He wants what Holly wants: forever. Convincing her of that won’t be easy, but Nick agrees—with fingers crossed behind his back—to Holly’s idea that they can be bed buddies until someone serious comes along. His plan: use the time between their passionate nights to convince her that he is the one.

Will Holly’s unexpected pregnancy change the rules of their games? Or can they both decide to play for keeps?

EXCERPT:

Something about the way he complimented her seemed more than superficial, but she didn’t probe it and scooted a few inches from him on the couch so she could look directly into his vivid green eyes.

“How’s your–”

“What are you–”

Their words crashed into each other, and they both laughed, dispelling some of the awkwardness. They’d been friends for years; she didn’t know why she was suddenly feeling uncomfortable around Nick.

“You first,” she said, pulling her hand back and rubbing both of them together for warmth.

He clasped her hands in his large ones again, rubbing them briskly this time. “You’re cold. Here, take my jacket.”

Before she could protest, he stood and removed the sexy-as-hell brown bomber jacket from his broad shoulders and wrapped it around her. He then rubbed her arms for good measure. His touch alone warmed her. Correction: his touch made her hot. She loved being wrapped in his jacket, even though she didn’t need it to keep her warm. As long as he was near, her body generated enough body heat to ward off the desert night chill. The jacket smelled of leather, saddle soap, and Nick. She couldn’t remember being this turned on just sitting next to, and not even touching, a man.

Nick didn’t say anything. He just looked at her with something akin to longing in his eyes. Feeling the need to fill the silence, to look away from his smoky green eyes, the golden flecks simmering with something like desire, Holly started asking questions, talking about anything to dispel the awkwardness that had returned as soon as he touched her, again.

REVIEW BY SARAH:

Well, I have to admit this book was a bit more emotional than I was expecting. I wasn’t even sure I was going to be able to finish it, to be honest. I’ll try not to give too much away as I explain.

Holly is sure of one thing – she wants commitment. She was marriage, a baby, a house, the whole shebang. Then Nick waltzes into her life and everything goes out the window. They are drawn to each other immediately. At least, until Holly gets pregnant. Nick, only 26, isn’t sure he’s ready to be a father, but Holly is overjoyed. It’s everything she’s ever wanted, but will Nick come around before he loses everything?

The story starts off fairly slow. There’s a lot of sexy scenes to keep you going but I did find myself wondering where we were headed. Then Holly gets pregnant. That’s when things got emotional for me. Ms. Fox does such a good job connecting you to Holly that for someone like me, who was abandoned when she was pregnant… Let’s just say I had very deep sympathies for Holly, and at one point last night I was so upset at Nick and identified so deeply with Holly that I was sure I was not going to be able to finish the book. It was just too upsetting. BUT! I will say this – I am so happy I did finish it. I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil the end.

Overall I’m going to give this book 4 Zs. It was really well written, the characters were real. I love the small details that really made Holly’s and Nick’s families come to life. There were a lot of cliches used, but I think that as Ms. Fox develops her writing style, she’ll become more comfortable with her voice and those will disappear. Great book! I’m adding Sylvie Fox to my list to read more of!

Rated 4 Z’s

I write the kinds of books I love to read. The quirky characters in my romance novels experience angst, conflict, mostly great sex, and always get their “happily ever after.” In my mainstream fiction, ordinary woman experience angst, conflict, and occasional great sex, but they also get embroiled in struggles against extraordinary odds, and I don’t promise a happy ending. I also love thrillers, but I don’t write those.  I live in Los Angeles with my husband, son, and a whole lot of pets. When I’m not hanging out in Hollywood, I’m eating my way through Budapest.

Ice may be needed for blazing imaginations.

Review:

This was a fun read.  I like how the interaction was between Carolina and Matt.  You could see the sparks leaping from the pages!  Matt did seem a little old fashioned in some spots but I figure it is the way he was brought up.  I would have liked to seen more to the ending of the story.  I just felt like it dropped me.  These are two passionate characters and I am hoping that Susan Arden continues with these siblings.

Author Info:

BLOG TOUR STOP!! AUTHOR INTERVIEW BY BRANDY!! Addictions of a Sex Demon by Jaye Shields (@jayeshields) #giveaway

 Excerpt:

Axel reached out and touched the soft flesh of the woman. He’d been given the gift of a hellion with the face of an angel. Her cheek fit perfectly in his palm as he cupped her face. Her eyes flickered in response, shifting from a playful, yellow glow to a deep, primal, amber hue. He drew his finger down her shoulder and observed the heated silk of her skin.

HOT!!  I have become a lifelong fan of Jaye Shields.  Claiming of a Sex Demon was a different kind of book for me and it drew me in and left me hungry for more.  Confessions of a Sex Demon was able to quinch my hunger but left me with a problem.  I have become a junkie and the only thing that is going to satisfy me now is…ADDICTIONS OF A SEX DEMON!!

This book was all that I expected from Jaye and more!!  Sephina will always hold a special place for me simply because I connected with her.  I understand the depths of her despair and the darkness she struggles to keep at bay.  Axel is one of those amazing men that comes along when we are at our lowest and makes us realize that there is a person that sees the real us, and loves us because of it.  The description that Jaye uses when talking about Axel’s demon race, is descriptive enough that I can see his wings exploding with vibrancy and smoke! 🙂  I also love that she brought Zahra and Lennox into Axel’s world.  I have a crush on Lennox, but Axel; well, that’s one man that makes me burn!

There are always books that will hold a special place in my heart.  Jaye’s books fit that category.

I am honored to have been asked to take part in Jaye’s Blog tour and even more excited to be able to introduce Jaye as my VERY FIRST AUTHOR INTERVIEW!!

Jaye Author Pic

BRANDY FROM ROMANCEBOOKWORM’S REVIEWSFirst of all I want to say thank you for being here, Jaye.  How excited are you right now for the release of your newest book, Addictions of a Sex Demon?

JAYE SHIELDSYou have no idea how excited I am. I’ve been waiting for Addictions of a Sex Demon to come out since forever. Ever since I wrote Confessions of a Sex Demon, I’ve been dying to tell Sephina’s story. I felt like I should write Claiming of a Sex Demon first though because it was a bit of a prequel and I thought Lennox’s back story might be interesting. Addictions of a Sex Demon written, edited by my fabulous editor, was ready to go quite some time ago, but we had to wait for my other releases first, lol, so the wait has been agonizing because this third book is my favorite! I adore Sephina. I think she’s tortured, she has problems, but she wants to overcome them. And well, she cracks me up. She kind of reminds me a bit of Sparrow from my book, Secrets of the Sky (from my Immortals in Alameda trilogy) because they both have a great sense of humor. Actually, I love them so much that I wrote a fanfiction of characters from my books hanging out at a demon karaoke bar together. Sparrow and Sephina were a crack-up. When they co-mingle, mischief abounds.

BRANDYNow I have to hunt down your fanfic because I can just imagine them together!  I saw on your website that you were a bass player in a grunge band.  Do you still play or have you left your grunge days behind?

JAYEThe guitarist contacts me every once and ever so often, and its possible that some day we could do a reunion show, but I live so far away (in another state now) its just not possible. I still love music now though and I play my guitar a lot and write love songs (or breakup songs) about the men in my life. I suck at singing though. When I was in the Hymens I was supposed to do joint vocals on a cover of Imagine, but I chickened out with the time came lol. Playing bass in front of a bunch of people is one thing, singing is another altogether. Especially when you suck. Like I do 😉 I love poetry though and making music so I do it anyway.

BRANDYI love to sing but can just imagine what I sound like!   I have to ask, did you sign autographs as Britney Spears in Tokyo or did you correct the mistake?

JAYE:  I offer proof via photo evidence of just how shameless I am. I didn’t correct him, and even if I did, he wouldn’t have understood because he didn’t speak English. In my own defense, I did sign my real name, not Britney Spears lol. I don’t even look like Britney Spears (or anyone famous) so I think it was just because I was in the middle of nowhere in Japan and I was tall and blonde. After he left on his little bike he came pedaling back to offer me his juice box. It was so cute. I love Japan.

jaye in tokyo

BRANDYThat is too funny!  He is a cute little guy though!  I love unusual storylines and yours is definitely that.  Why did you choose to write about sex demons?

JAYEUm….I plead the fifth? Tee-hee *Enter mischievous grin here* Well, what happened was that I had written my Immortals in Alameda trilogy (sensual romance) and I couldn’t get any agents or editors to even read a page of it. My critique partner mentioned that my love scenes were pretty hot and I should try to write an erotic romance since that genre was taking off. I was walking to a coffee shop to write such a story and I wanted to think of a title that would draw people in. Confessions of a Sex Demon slammed into me about a block after I left my tiny studio apartment. By the time I reached the coffee shop I had the whole story planned out. Sex Demons that need climax to survive. Hot, semi-psychotic blacksmith, Sex fiend/closet romantic succubus. It was so fun to write and it ended up in my very first contract offers a week after I submitted it. I went from not being able to get anyone to even read a page of what I’d written, to getting to choose between dif publishers.

BRANDYI am in love with the your demons and have to admit they are hot!  Do you have any designs to expand the Sex Demon Trilogy?

JAYEOh yes. Pretty much anytime I write a character, even if they only have one line, I get obsessed with the idea of telling their story. I would love to write a whole spinoff of sex demon stories about the going ons of the whorehouse that Seph ends up owning. But that won’t happen any time soon because I already have a list of stories that I need to finish before that. Right now I’m 50k into my very first contemporary so I’m dying to finish that because I think people will really enjoy it.

BRANDYA contemporary?  Oh, yeah!  I know that there are a lot of authors that base their characters off themselves.  Do you feel that your characters represent some of your own traits?

JAYEDefinitely. Actually, when people I know read these books, no matter what character it is, they see bits of me in the characters. At first, it really freaked out some of my fam members. Every character represents a different aspect of my personality I think.

BRANDYI can imagine what they thought when they read the Sex Demons!!  Being an author is not an easy task and you do it well.  How did you get started in writing?

JAYEI’ve been writing as long as I can remember. My mom and dad often pull out books that I’d written when I was in elementary school. My mom just showed me one recently from second grade and I was already dedicating books to her. As I got older (middle school) I wrote novel-length fan fiction (prepare yourself for my geek moment) for Lord of the Rings. When I was in high school I focused mostly on poetry and song writing. My first two years of college, I started a bunch of stories, I’d get about 30k into them, and get distracted onto a different story idea, and leave the prior tale unfinished. It was my junior year when I finally said, no more story switching. You’re going to finish one, damn it! And I did J And then I wrote the next two in the trilogy. These became the stories in my Immortals in Alameda trilogy from Crimson Romance.

BRANDYI am a book and author junkie, so I have to ask, do you have a favorite author?

JAYEI love Kresley Cole. She’s a no-fail for me. A lot of my other favorite authors have been more touch and go for me. I used to love JR Ward, but I’m less obsessed lately. Same for me with Sherrylon Kenyon and Gena Showalter. Lately I’ve been mostly reading my talented indie-author peers. It’s refreshing to discover new authors and read words and plots that catch you by surprise.

BRANDYI know what you mean.  My no-fails are Lynsay Sands and Julia Quinn.  I am discovering a lot of indie-authors and love them too!  Can you tell us three interesting things about yourself that might not be common knowledge?

JAYE1.)  I have a cat named Nyx (after one of my favorite Kresley Cole characters) 2.)  I just recently fell in love. He went out of his way to bring me some cake before we’d ever gone out. Then when we did go out, he took some pictures of me (he’s a photographer) and after I saw the pictures, I realized just how he looked at me. I’d never felt so beautiful, or so understood. I realized then that we were soulmates.  3.)  On a less sexy and romantic note…I love fishing and I’ve caught a fish nearly as big as me. The same day I also caught a squid and it sprayed black ink all over the boat. Ew.

BRANDYThat is disgusting but I grew up on the beach so I know how those things go!  What are the BEST things about being a published author?

JAYE Realizing your dream has come true and knowing you can do anything you put your mind to. Being able to touch or entertain people with your words and characters.

BRANDYI think you just described the reason I got into writing!  What are the worst things about being a published author?

JAYEBeing open to scrutiny. I haven’t gotten any bad reviews yet, but I know they’ll come as my audience widens.

BRANDYThat has got to be the hardest part.  Knowing someone didn’t like something that is essentially part of you.  Any advice that you would like to share with aspiring authors?

JAYEDon’t give up. Keep writing. Do whatever makes you happy, and always do it for that reason. Don’t write to be published, because it could be a while. Don’t do it to make money because you probably wont. Do it because you love getting lost in characters, worlds, words.

BRANDYThank you so much for taking the time to do this!  I am so excited to have you as my very first Author Interview and I am looking forward to more incredible stories!

JAYE:  Thank you so much, Brandy. It was a super fun interview and I hope I haven’t talked WAY too much. You can tell I’m a writer because I talk far too much, lol. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the Sex Demon trilogy because I had a blast writing it!

XOXO  JAYE

BLOG TOUR STOP! NOT JUST FRIENDS BY LACEY WOLFE (@TastyBookTours, @LaceyWolfe)

Blurb:

Can the quiet bookstore owner land the playboy?

Alyssa Duncan’s life revolves around books. If not for the fact the town’s playboy Connor Phillips has a secret reading addiction, she most likely wouldn’t be on his radar…or his friend. The two personalities just don’t mesh…or do they? She gets a chance to find out when a book-reading bet leads to dinner. Alyssa experiences a wide a range of emotions. She’s elated her beyond-friendship feelings seem returned, but his reputation precedes him. Is she just another gullible female in a string of women? As a relationship begins to develop with Connor, going past the limits of friendship, things grow muddled and complicated when an ex-boyfriend shows up in town and things aren’t what they seem.

When the dust finally settles, will Alyssa find true love with someone or end up with just another friend?

Excerpt:

As Alyssa opened the book to chapter one, her phone chirped, letting her know she’d received a text. She decided to ignore it. She never liked to be disturbed when she read. But whoever it was didn’t want to be ignored, since her phone chirped again.

Alyssa groaned, dug it out of her purse, and read the two messages.

Can I come up? – Connor

Put the book down and let me in. *wink wink* – Connor

She giggled and wondered what he stopped by for, especially since she’d just seen him on a date. The new book he wanted didn’t come out until next week. She made her way back downstairs to the bookstore, where she saw Connor standing at the door, smiling while holding two paper cups she assumed was coffee. God, he was a sight. Dark, almost black hair that he always wore with that just-out-of-bed look, with ice-blue eyes that bore into one’s soul.

She unlocked the door and let him in. “Hey, Connor. What can I do for you?”

He handed her a coffee. “It’s Sunday evening and you’re closed tomorrow, which means you’ll be on a reading binge tonight. Figured you could use some coffee.”

She grinned. He knew her so well. Too bad he’d never see her the way she did him. “I picked up a historical romance.”

“Did you try the book I recommend yet?”

Sci-fi wasn’t for her. She had tried it, but couldn’t get into it. “Soon.”

“I don’t believe you. Maybe we should take a bet.” He leaned against the wall.

“A bet? Are you serious?”

“Dead serious. I bet by the end of the week you still haven’t read it.”

She took a sip of her drink. Ah, her favorite. Mocha with a splash of raspberry. “What are the terms of this bet?”

“If you have, dinner’s on me. If you haven’t, dinner’s on you. And I warn you, I have expensive taste.”

Alyssa’s heart fluttered. Dinner? A meal together? They’d never gone anywhere. In fact, she didn’t know if anyone knew they were even friends.

Connor reached out, touching her shoulder. “Do we have a deal?”

Oh God, she was supposed to speak. She wasn’t sure that part of her was working any longer. “Uh-huh.”

Connor grinned at her, a dimple forming on his cheek. “What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”

No, a cat did not have her tongue. In fact, if a cat did, she was pretty sure she’d be screaming right about now, not being mute.

“You kinda threw me off, asking me to dinner.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. Was that something you weren’t interested in?”

Ha ha, there wasn’t a woman around who didn’t want to have dinner and more with Connor Phillips. She just never thought it would be her. “We have a deal.”

“Good.”

Alyssa wondered if this meant he might be interested in her. That he could possibly have eyes for her. As she stared at him with a God-knew-what kind of smile on her face, she didn’t notice at first the blonde bombshell she’d seen earlier was now standing outside waiting. Alyssa glanced back at Connor, who caught her focus and turned to glance at the woman.

“Crap, I forgot about her.”

Alyssa raised an eyebrow. “Date?”

“For this evening.”

Her heart sank. Connor wasn’t interested in her. She would never look like blondie out there. He wanted to take her out as a friend. That was it. It was time she realized it and the fact they would never be anymore than they were. And after tonight, the woman standing out in the cold would know the same thing.

“I guess I better get out there.” He took a sip of his drink and stepped away from the wall.

“Yeah, she seems a little mad.”

Connor leaned closed and whispered to her, “She’ll get over it.” He brushed a light kiss on her cheek. This was the first time he’d ever been that close to her.

The woman outside tapped on the door, obviously not liking what she had seen.

“You better go,” Alyssa said. “Besides, I think my dinner’s cold. I’d just taken it out of the microwave before you got here.”

“Enjoy your meal and the coffee as well.” He waved and then went back out the door, greeting the woman waiting for him.

Alyssa wanted to watch but didn’t. It was hard enough knowing the man she secretly fantasized about was once again out with another woman.

Review:

A bookworm after my own heart!  Alyssa is living my dream of running a bookstore.  She has always had a crush on the town badboy Connor and is delighted everytime she sees him.  Connor is intrigued with the feelings that Alyssa inspire in him and would love to get to know her better.  A simple bet starts them down the path.

I like Cody and think there is a story there as well.  Lacey has a way of dragging you into the lives of the characters she creates.  Diane is a self absorbed little witch but you ache a little for her and wonder what happened to make her that way.  Matt is an ass that needs to be smacked but the humor of that whole situation, well you just need to read the book. 🙂

BLOG TOUR STOP! STUCK ON YOU BY HEATHER THURMEIER (@Crimson_Romance, @TastyBookTours, @hthurmeier)

BLURB:

If being forced to team up with reality TV’s favorite bad girl wasn’t enough, falling for her brother might just make this reality show a real nightmare.

Paige Anderson agrees to be on a new reality show called Treasure Trekkers, a show where contestants use handheld GPS units to find hidden caches filled with prizes, with her good friend Cassidy. But when Cassidy is unable to compete, Chip Cormack, the show’s producer, steps in with a last-minute replacement to be Paige’s partner – Zoe Oliver, reality TV’s favorite bad girl.

Jack Miles (aka Miles) is a mountain climber with the body to prove it. Miles convinced his climbing partner Ben to come on the show with him for one reason – to prove to Ben that they can still hike together, regardless of the fact that Ben lost his foot in a tragic accident. Miles isn’t about to let anything get in his way of winning – not even beautiful Paige.

But when Miles and Paige are thrown into an alliance with their teammates, working closely together leads to more than just good strategy. Can Paige steal Miles’ heart while surviving Zoe long enough to win the game?

EXCERPT:

“Welcome, everyone, to the first season of Treasure Trekkers, the show that will have you racing for treasures in caches hidden around the New York metropolitan area as well as the lower Hudson Valley.” He paused to smile for the camera a moment before continuing on. “You never know what surprise you’ll find in the next cache. Perhaps you’ll find money, or a fantastic trip for two. Maybe you’ll even find the keys to a new car!”

The contestants cheered. Even Paige who was normally pretty quiet and reserved cheered at the idea of being able to win really awesome prizes along the way without having to win the whole show. Even with Cassidy as her teammate, the chances of winning the adventure show were pretty slim for two girls who weren’t exactly athletic or outdoorsy. Winning a few prizes could go a long way to making Paige more comfortable in life. Her salary as a freelance graphic artist covered the bills, but little else. But at least she could take time off whenever she wanted.

“Speaking of surprises, we’re starting off the show with a big one.” Spencer motioned for Cassidy to come and stand beside him instead of off to the side where she had been next to Chip. “I’m sure most of you have already noticed that one of our teams of two is currently a team of one. But not for long.”

Paige felt her insecurity creeping up into her cheeks. She hated being the center of attention. Why had she ever agreed to come on this new show? Was a free trip, an interesting experience, and time spent with her good friend really worth all this?

Spencer gestured to her. “Paige has been patiently waiting for her teammate to show up and here she is with me. Cassidy, why don’t you tell everyone why you’re here with me instead of over there with your teammate.”

Cassidy glanced around the small gathering, smiling as she found the spot where Evan stood filming. Then her eyes met Paige’s quickly before settling back on Spencer.

“Well, um, there’s been a little change of plans.”

What change of plans? No one spoke to me about any changes and I’ve been here all day.

“I was supposed to run the race with Paige.” Cassidy caught Paige’s gaze again, her expression clearly apologetic for what she was about to say. “But I’m sorry. I can’t run the race with you.”

Can’t run the race? I can’t run it alone.

“And why is that?” Spencer asked even though he absolutely had to already know the answer. But America didn’t and neither did Paige.

How? Why? What could possibly make it okay for Cassidy to think she could abandon Paige at the last minute like this? Her chest tightened at the thought of having to run it alone. Or drop out before they even started.

Damn. Getting voted out in the third round on The One was bad enough, but now she was about to be kicked off in the first episode of a show where everyone was supposed to compete until the end. This wasn’t fair.

Cassidy looked away from Paige and back to Evan, a smile coming to her lips. “Because…

REVIEW:

Paige got her book and I loved it!  When Paige is asked to do another reality show this time with her best friend as her partner, she agrees.  I fun race-style show to win some cash and prizes sounds like some girl-bonding time.  That is until the show is about to start and her best friend can’t do it.  What happens when your nightmare becomes the person that you have to work with?  YIKES!

Miles is the type of friend that we all want to have, secrets and all.  He feels responsible for an accident and will do anything to set it right.

Heather is an amazingly talented writer and I have had the honor and privilege of working on a couple of her tours.  She will continue to be one of those authors that I hunt out to make sure I have read everything that I can!  She has a way of making you connect to the characters and I love that!

REVIEW!! Claiming of a Sex Demon (The Sex Demon Trilogy) by Jaye Shields (@JayeShields, @TastyBookTours)

Excerpt from Amazon:

It’s not easy for a sex demon to find a wife, and it’s even harder when the perfect woman is already taken.Emmerie Winter has only been married a few months, but depression has made her a fragile stranger in the arms of her husband. She knows she should love him, but she doesn’t, and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t convince her heart otherwise. When a sex demon with a boyish grin and a sinful body arrives in town, Emmerie’s world is turned upside down. His intense passion for life sends her depression into hiding, but her feelings for the sinful male could get her in deep trouble.A sex demon needs climax to survive, but that’s never been a problem for Reza Aniron as women seem to be unable to resist his charms…all except for one, a timid, blonde angel who treats him with complete indifference. But in her eyes he can see a fire that’s just waiting to be released. And he always did love a challenge.

I don’t understand Emmerie and I will tell you that right off the bat.  The woman has a good, strong loving husband but is constantly in a state of depression.  I don’t get that.  Now that being said, I really did enjoy this book.  I read Claiming first instead of Confessions based on a friend’s advice.  I am glad I took it because I like reading prequel’s first. 🙂    Reza made the book for me.  There is just something sexy about a man that can bring a woman infinite delights in the bedroom and still knows his way around the kitchen.  I did like the fact that Emmerie felt she needed to be honest with Lennox (her husband) about her feelings before making love with Reza.  That tells me she does have character and I wonder if Ms. Shields is going to further develop that.  I also thought her brother seemed to be a strong man and would like to see more of him as well.

I have only recently expanded my paranormal reading to include things other then vampires, werewolves and witches.  I have to say the Sex Demons were the place to go.  I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read Confessions and Addictions (Feb 2013) to round out this awesome trilogy!

**I was given a copy of this book in return for my honest review.  I am not being compensated for my opinion.**

BLOG TOUR BLAST! EMMA: THE WILD AND WANTON EDITION BY MICHA PERSELL & JANE AUSTIN (@TastyBookTours)

BLURB:

Emma Woodhouse and Mr. Knightley won the literary world’s heart 200 years ago when Jane Austen first penned the story of their friendship-turned-love. Emma is the young, rich, beautiful heroine with too much time on her hands and an overactive imagination; Mr. Knightley is her long-suffering friend who is always trying to steer her in the right direction.

Their love story is one of deep, dedicated affection blooming into passion. But what about all of that sexual tension that crackles in the subtext? In this Wild and Wanton edition of Austen’s classic, Emma and Mr. Knightley burn up the pages as they give in to their baser natures. Discover the sexy scenes that readers of Emma have been imagining between Austen’s lines since 1815.

EXCERPT:

She was his own Emma, by hand and word.

He made a noise that seemed to emanate from deep within his chest, and the light kisses he had been gifting her with continued to travel up from her wrist to her inner forearm, to the hallow of her elbow at which point she completely forgot how to breathe.

He began to talk again, his breath caressing her skin as completely as his lips had seconds ago. “You have made me a very happy man, my Emma.” He punctuated the endearment with another kiss to her upper arm. “I had dared not to hope—” a kiss to her cloth-covered shoulder “—dared not to dream.”

His words trailed off as he pressed an open-mouth kiss to her collarbone. She felt the sweep of something velvety and wet, and her body jolted as she realised it was his tongue. She heard herself make a noise, and heard him echo it.

“I am forgetting myself, dearest,” he said hoarsely into the patch of damp skin. “Remind me,” he begged. “Remind me of how I should behave.”

Her Mr. Knightley, Emma thought with exultation, always so concerned with how one should behave. Emma was entirely uninterested in proper behaviour at this moment. “Not yet,” she whispered into his hair, the scent of the garden and sunshine greeting her as she rested her cheek against his head. “Please not yet.”
He groaned and his kisses moved to the hallow of her throat. “Your wish, my lady.”

Jane Austen is one of the most beloved authors of all time. She never married, and as far as we know, she died a virgin. More’s the pity.

Micah Persell is the award-winning author of the paranormal romance series Operation: Middle of the Garden. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a double master’s degree in English pedagogy and literature, and she found particular delight in driving her professors to madness by imagining the characters’ salacious untold stories during class discussions of “serious literature.” She is beyond thrilled that the object of her professors’ horror is now her profession.
