 Ellie
Cahill is definitely one to watch
!” raves bestselling author Cora Carmack,
and this steamy, upbeat modern romance about connecting in all the best ways
proves it once again.

Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy,
powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an
embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to
live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t an option. Of course, the
last thing she does before boarding the plane is to grab a stranger’s phone by
mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the
line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just
the way Clementine likes it.

Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to
realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at
his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town,
but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin
doesn’t want to let her go. The only problem? It turns out that Clemetine has
been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing two people
can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real.
EXCERPT:

“Is that okay? If I listen to your music, I mean.”

“Yeah, go ahead.” He seemed excited. I liked the sound of his voice like that.

“Anything you’d recommend?”

“I’ve only got a few playlists. Just pick one.”

“Okay.” I was curious to check out his music preferences, but not so curious that I wanted to end our chat. There was something about his easy manner that made me want to keep talking to him. “You can check out my music if you’d like.”

“I’m gonna have to. What am I supposed to do while I work out, listen to my own thoughts?”

I laughed, knowing exactly what he meant. “I do have Spotify and all that if my musical tastes are not to your liking. And plenty of data, so go for it.”

“You’re not a big Adult Contemporary fan, I hope?”

“No, pretty much not. But . . . well, you’ll see.”

“I’ll have to report back to you.”

A lull fell between us, and I knew I should let him go back to his family, but I was reluctant to break the easiness between us. “So, what part of Florida are you from?”

“Central. Near Orlando.”

“No beach?” I asked.

“Sadly no.”

“I guess I’ll just have to enjoy the beach for both of us this week.”

“Send me a picture.”

“I—what?” Total Zack flashbacks. My heart hammered noisily in my head, making my temples throb while my armpits prickled with fear-induced sweat.

“I meant—sorry. Was that weird?” For the first time he sounded nervous. “I just meant I like the beach. You could send me a picture of the beach. Or not. It’s—I’m not stalking you, I swear.”

My pulse throttled back a bit. Okay. Maybe he wasn’t one of those guys. His distress was so obvious, I almost wanted to laugh, but I knew it would be one of those weird, ugly laughs. Instead I managed to say, “I-I could send you a picture of the beach.”

He cleared his throat. “Yeah?”

“Sure.”

Another little silence fell and I squirmed in my seat.

“This is frustrating, isn’t it?” Justin said softly.

My stomach fluttered. “What do you mean?”

He exhaled into the microphone. “I wish we’d actually met at the airport.”

“Why’s that?”

“Because I’m pretty sure I would have asked for your number, and now I’ll never know if you’re only talking to me because you feel bad that you stole my phone.”

Was that a line? I couldn’t tell. “Oh, come on. I’m sure you say that to all the girls who fall on top of you and nearly break your laptop.”

“Well, I am a Southern boy, remember. We’re all about chivalry.” He spoke with an awful, thick accent.

“I didn’t think Southerners acknowledged the existence of Florida.”

He laughed and tried the accent again. “How dare you insult my people!”

Ugh, he was so damn charming. It wasn’t fair to be inhumanly gorgeous and charming. And yet I found myself wanting to respond in kind. “I wouldn’t dream of it, sir.” I gave him my best Scarlett O’Hara, which was, admittedly, not very good.

“That was terrible.”

“So much for chivalry.”

“I’m sure you have many fine qualities, but your Southern accent is not one of them.”

“I speak Hindi in a passable accent,” I volunteered. Which was just plain stupid, because the entire goal was to not let this guy know too much about myself. I was completely failing at keeping this professional and it had been all of thirty hours. It was no wonder I was the family disappointment.

“Seriously?” Justin pulled me back from my self-flagellation.

“Yes.” And I could say a few useful phrases in a handful of other languages as well, but I’d said enough about that thank you very much.

“Why Hindi?”

“I was born in India and I lived there until I was three.” Stop talking, Clementine.

“Why did you leave?”

“My mother was doing graduate work over there at the time.” Oh my god, stop talking, Clementine.

“That’s kind of cool.” Justin sounded genuinely impressed.

I shrugged. “I guess. It’s a real pain in the ass getting through airport security.”

“Why?” He laughed.

“I’m technically an Overseas Citizen of India, because I was born there. And that’s apparently enough to get you labeled a ‘person of interest’ by the TSA. I get searched all the time.”

“So, are you a ‘person of interest’?”

“No. I’m not even a terribly interesting person most of the time.”

“Now I know that’s not true.”

“You don’t really know me at all,” I reminded him.

“All right, tell me something else about yourself.”

“What do you want to know?” The little voice in my head telling me to stop threw up her hands in total resignation.

“I don’t know. Anything. Let’s start with your last name.”

Oh crap. Of all the things he could have asked, it had to be that.

There is one thing you learn early when you grow up in a family like mine—a lot of people will treat you differently as soon as they find out your net worth. A lesson I’d learned the hardest possible way when I was nineteen. Thus the code names and the nearly blank phone.

Of course, not everyone is after you for your money, but even if they never want a dime, most people get a little weird once they know they’re dealing with the American equivalent of royalty. My great-great-aunt was an actual English duchess, and her grandson was the current duke. You have to admit, if you found out you’d been chatting casually with a princess, you’d freak out. At least a little. Anyone would.

So even though it wasn’t Justin’s fault that we’d been forced into this odd little relationship, I did what I’d had drilled into my head: I lied.

“Davis,” I said.

“It’s nice to meet you, Miss Davis,” he said, then after a pause asked, “It is miss, right?”

I laughed. “I’m not married.”

“Just checking.”

“And you are?”

“Justin Mueller with a –u-e.” He pronounced it “Miller.”

“Hi.” I felt the familiar mixture of guilt and apprehension that I always felt when I lied to a new acquaintance.

“Well, now that we’ve been formally introduced I should get going,” he said. “My mother is watching me through the patio door and it’s giving me bad high school flashbacks.”

“My . . . friend is probably wondering what happened to me.” I’d already given more personal details about myself than I should have, so I randomly held back on saying I was with my cousin. Yeah, that’ll throw him off the scent, Clem. Nice work.

“Okay, well . . . I’m sure I’ll talk to you later,” he said. “Listen to that song I told you about, okay?”

“I will.”

We said goodbye.

I blew out a loud sigh and propped my feet on the bedpost as I lifted Justin’s phone up to eye level and tapped my way into his picture album again. There he was, gorgeous as ever.

What was wrong with me? I had seen this man in person for approximately fifteen seconds. Why on earth was I obsessing about him like this?

I pressed the power button, blanking the screen.

Then I rolled onto my stomach and powered the phone back on. I searched his music collection for the song called “Clementine” and let it play while I browsed the rest of his list. Classic rock, classic rock, classic rock. To be fair, his taste in the classics seemed to run the gamut from the almost clichéd Led Zeppelin and Rush to the less-expected Jefferson Airplane and Cream. He seemed to have it all from the ’60s, right up through today. If a band had an easily recognizable lead singer and an unmistakable guitar style, Justin was into it.

I sent him a text message: Try the playlist I’m Not Cool.

The song he’d recommended was soft, acoustic guitar, and sweet vocals. I liked it, just as he’d predicted. I smiled as I moved out of his first two playlists. The next one raised my eyebrows. It was called Original Classics, and was populated by the likes of Beethoven and Bach. Next, I checked one called Softer. There, I found the home of The Decemberists and some other more recent artists. Very alternative and generally soft, soothing music that I tended to favor myself.

It was the last playlist, however, that made me smile and get all swoony again. It was called Standards and it was inhabited by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and even a few more obscure performers of the Great American Songbook. I rolled onto my back again, holding his phone to my chest and feeling like I’d just been handed the last ingredient in a recipe for falling in love. Was this guy for real?

My heart was beating hard, and the phone began to slip, so I slid it farther down to rest on my stomach, just below the inverted V made by my ribs.

I wanted him. Not that I could do anything about it, but at least I could admit it. I’d wanted him since the moment I laid eyes on him, and so far he’d done nothing to discourage my desire.

Gibson, don’t miss the start of this captivating small-town romance series!
Laurel Falls, Montana, features spectacular mountain scenery—but it takes a
rugged cowboy to convince one woman to slow down and enjoy the view.

Rafferty Hamilton doesn’t plan on putting down roots
anytime soon. With her divorce final, the hotel heiress has left Manhattan
behind to scout new locations for her family’s chain of resorts. Which is why
it’s so frustrating to be stranded in Laurel Falls while a good-looking,
slow-talking, Stetson-wearing mechanic takes his sweet time with her overheated
coupe.

A decorated vet who paid his dues in Afghanistan, Trace

ridiculous sports car. He’s couldn’t say the same for the knockout driver, who
looks like she’s never gripped a gear shaft in her life. Women like Rafferty
don’t usually stick around in Laurel Falls, but Trace finds himself showing her
everything his hometown has to offer before she cruises on down the road.

As the days pass, Rafferty finds herself charmed by the
pace of life and the openhearted warmth of the residents. She’s even tempted to

REVISED COVER

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge.
Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart.

Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him?

EXCERPT (Unedited)

Before she could fire, Kerry let off another barrage of plasma bolts into the river, then leapt toward her and ripped the severed tentacle from her leg. It flapped around on the wet grass. She scrambled to her knees, still slightly winded and fired at the hideous thing. The foliage around it flared for a moment with an eerie green flame and the tentacle shrivelled into a slimy black mass, emitting a pungent odour and causing her to gag for a moment.
“It seems I was mistaken about the creature being dead.” Kerry prodded the smouldering mass with his boot and looked across over the water. “It is now.” He leaned down and grasped her wrist to haul her to her feet. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I don’t think so.” Her shoulder was sore and probably bruised but she’d live. She tried to control her shivering. The incident affected her more than she wanted to admit. Kerry’s proximity, naked to the waist, his lithe body shining from the water droplets that still clung to his skin, his legs swathed in tight black leather, did nothing to help. The last thing she wanted was for him to realise how scared she’d been when she thought a snake attacked her. “Thanks. That was close. It would have been a bit ironic if I’d been killed by the same creature I saved you from.”
She realized he still grasped her wrist. She tried to move away, but he pulled her back, obliging her to turn to him.
“You are trembling.”
“I’m fine.”
“No,” he said. “You’re not.” He pulled her closer and his eyes softened, his gaze holding her mesmerized. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but in the same instant he put his hand under her chin and his lips closed over hers.

Excerpt Banner

Ethan paused at the foot of the steps to be sure I was shadowing him, and with one hand in his pocket, casually ascended the stairs. I followed at a distance, the way he’d followed me on the first night we met, and as I reached the summit, I caught sight of him disappearing into a room at the end of a wide corridor. The noise from the music and chatter faded into a distant hum as I made my way down the hall, my heart hammering rhythmically against my chest as excitement built up inside me, just as it had that night. The door to the room stood slightly ajar and tentatively, I reached out to push it open. The room was in darkness, but the brightness from the hallway cast a muted light into the room, enough so that I could just make out a large, silver, Las Vegas pool table. It was a games room. Suddenly, the chrome lights above the table flicked on, drawing my attention to the high quality, smooth, black cloth covering the table. Wilde was scrawled in gray writing across the middle. The rest of the room remained in the shadows. I entered the room slowly, a quick glimpse revealing, among other things, a foosball table, a pinball machine, and several vintage arcade games. A proper boys-with-toys room. I couldn’t see Ethan, but his presence was indisputable, like an electrical force field charging the space around me, exerting his force without any tangible contact. Behind me, I heard the sound of the door closing, the key turning in the lock. A combination of apprehension and exhilaration sped through me, a shiver chasing a trail up and down my spine, continuing down and under to my naked, clenching sex. Suddenly, there was a noise from behind me, somewhere to the left in the corner of the room. The sound of a dime being pushed into a coin slot and the whirring of mechanics—a jukebox. I didn’t turn around. Ethan’s imprecise location, the unfamiliar surroundings, the uncertainty of what was about to happen, all seemed to exacerbate my arousal beyond reason, and everything south of my navel began to pulse.

Excerpt Banner

I gazed in bewilderment at the stranger in the mirror as I brushed my teeth. My hair was tangled and unwashed. Dark circles surrounded my red-rimmed eyes, too large for the hollows in my pale, haunted face. Turning away in disgust, I stripped naked and climbed into the shower. The steaming hot water cascaded over my tender, aching body, cleansing and soothing me, both physically and spiritually. When I emerged, I towel dried my hair and put on my robe, knowing I had only seconds to spare. As if on cue, I heard a commotion in the hallway before Ethan burst through the door to my apartment, frantically shouting out my name. He appeared in the doorway of my bedroom from the hallway as I entered from the bathroom and stared transfixed, his eyes wide with fear. The look of torment and suffering etched on his usually seamless face reflected that which I felt, and my heart constricted at the sight of him. His face was pinched, pain and misery evident in every crease and curve of his beautiful features. His bedraggled hair and bloodshot eyes revealed a state of turmoil and sleepless nights. The transformation was devastating. He stood before me, a mere shadow of his usual assertive, confident self, and suddenly my mind reeled with conflicting emotions. I hadn’t expected this. I’d imagined him shameful—remorseful even—that his deceit had been exposed, but this was an image of a broken man. Broken like me. Part of me wanted to run into his arms and kiss away the anguish and the hurt, and the other wanted to scream at him, pound my fists violently into his chest. I did neither. I just stood, rooted to the spot, incapable of any reaction.

When I was asked to read a book called Bound for Hell, I was intrigued.  When I discovered that it was the author’s debut novel, I was interested.  I love to support my indies.  I fell in love with Angel and Ethan and I made sure that Kendra knew I was waiting for the second book.  When she approached me about Bound for Salvation, I never hesitated.

We all have demons and sometimes those demons have demolished us.  The possibility of being rebuilt, worthy and loved seem like an impossible dream.  Angel found her dream in Ethan and he is determined to show her that her walls need to crumble.

The passion and love these two share is amazing.  It is like a movie in my head that shows me what can happen when you have been retrieved from Hell and the man in front of you is offering you Heaven.  Do you take the plunge even thought there is still obstacles or do hide behind the fortress your heart as built?

Take the path that Angel and Ethan are on.  Trust me.

Review
What an outstanding turn of events this series has taken!

With utmost skill, Phoenix has delivered the origins of this amazing saga in a most magical and historical-fiction fashion!  Petran and Natalia are surrounded by every reason imaginable not to become involved, but going against all odds always makes life more interesting.  It was wonderful to get the story from the beginning, and the author has tagged my favorite genre in the process.  While still saddened from the losses that occurred in the previous installment, reading about Tardiegh’s father was enthralling.  I loved the characters, the intrigue, betrayal, and passion!

As usual, the writing style and descriptive nature pulled me in immediately, not letting go until the page was blank.  The paranormal hierarchy and races are uniquely intertwined with legend and histories that existed, or could be imagined from reality.  I just adore this author, and she ended this in Ella style; Leaving me wanting more!

Great read & you’re just NUTS if you don’t get it while it’s free!

About the Author

I was just nine years old when I discovered my passion for the paranormal world. That passion led me to a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts where I had my first taste in writing, conjuring children’s plays and re-writing Shakespearean masterpieces to suit the modern times (Yes, he’s still cringing in his grave).

After years travelling around the world, translating other people’s novels and devouring paranormal romances, I realized the real world wasn’t fun without a touch of magic, and decided to purge my own crazy stories into paper, well, into word doc, to be more precise. My busy life with a demanding full time job and a very loving husband (I’m so not complaining!) doesn’t allow me much spare time, but somehow every night I find myself in front of the computer, exorcising the millions of stories stored in my sanity-challenged mind.

My novels are tales of love and passion between strong female leads and hot heroes, bathed in paranormal magic, of course. I live in Sydney, Australia, the land of koalas (which are not bears), kangaroos (which are not boxing champions) and Vegemite (a black spread that should have never been invented. Seriously, don’t try it).

REVIEW
What a wonderful Highland read!
The author has created a gem to treasure! I love the old “denial” routine and the banter that ensues between the main characters.  Fagan is wonderful character whose values and moral compass are worthy of hero status. Our leading lady; however, earns her title around the latter part of the novel.  The romance is intense, story line is exciting, and the setting is extraordinarily depicted.  Great read!

Highly recommend for lovers of the genre!

Excerpt from KILTS AND DAGGERS by Victoria Roberts

“Mister Murray, I don’t feel at ease discussing these subjects with you.”

“Then call me Fagan. Mister Murray was my father’s name anyway.”

Grace looked around and then softened her voice. “Now is that truly appropriate?”

“I told ye before. Ye’re a long way from England, lass. Lest ye forget, ye’re in the Highlands now. We do things differently here.”

She lifted a brow. “How could I forget?”

“Ruairi said ye’ll be staying with us for a few weeks. More to the point, I already call Ruairi’s wife Ravenna.” He turned up his smile a notch. “Ye and I are practically like family. Ye will call me Fagan, and I will call ye Grace, or I could always call ye bhana-phrionnsa. I’ll be kind enough to give ye a choice.”

“Ravenna may permit you to call her by her Christian name, but I certainly do not, Mister Murray. Although you do make me laugh, I’m afraid you and I are far from family.”

***

When Grace’s eyes smoldered, Fagan knew he shouldn’t get too close to the flame for fear of getting burned. There was still enough time to take his leave. Otherwise, he’d be verbally sparring with a lass in the middle of the great hall. Ruairi would no doubt have his head for causing mischief with his kin so soon after the wedding.

Fagan slapped both hands on the table and casually stood. Instinctively, he took another step back in case the lass suddenly had a strong urge to reach across the table and throttle him—or worse. Nevertheless, once she heard what he was about to say, the table wouldn’t provide enough space between them.

“Verra well then. I think bhana-phrionnsasuits ye quite nicely.” When Grace’s cheeks turned scarlet, Fagan smiled. “Donna say I didnae warn ye. Remember I did give ye a choice.” He winked at her and then turned on his heel.

“Wait!”

He had a hard time trying to mask his smile. He turned around slowly and lifted a brow. “Aye?”

Grace flew to her feet, walked around the table, and closed the distance between them. She lifted her head, and by the way she was unsteady on her feet, he swore the daft lass was standing on the tips of her toes in a futile attempt to look him level in the eye.

“England and Scotland have been warring for centuries, Mister Murray, yet somehow Scotland has never won.” Lifting her skirts, she brushed his arm with her shoulder and took a few steps away from him.

That was until he called after her and stopped her dead in her tracks. “Cuine a chì mi a-ris thu, Grace?” When will I see you again? He made certain he said the words as though he spoke to his lover, which obviously had the desired effect because her whole body stiffened, and then she left him without a backward glance. Fagan’s mood was suddenly buoyant. He wasn’t exactly sure why he loved to unnerve Princess Grace, but he had one hell of a time doing it.

Matter of Time - Alannah Lynne
Blurb:
Some might think the phrase, “you complete me” is a just cheesy line from the movies, but Lizbeth Sanders knows better…
In MATTER OF TIME, Lizbeth has spent the past fifteen years desperately searching for someone to fill the void left by Logan Steele’s disappearance from her life. However, rather than finding love and happiness, all she’s found is disappointment, heartache, and an ever-present longing for the man she can never have. Fifteen years ago, Logan Steele left the woman he loved to marry his high school sweetheart and be a father to the child he didn’t know he had. He’s always tried to do the honorable thing, to be a good husband and a great father, but despite his sacrifices and best efforts, the shaky foundation of his marriage crumbles and falls apart. When his identical twin surprises him with a reintroduction to Lizbeth, Logan feels like he’s been given a second chance—at life and love. But a lot can change in fifteen years, and after hurting her so badly the first time, building trust isn’t just hard, it’s nearly impossible—especially when duty and obligation pulls him away again.

CeeCee’s Review:
Being a native of S.C., this immediately piqued my curiosity!

Hidden within the erotic story of Lizbeth and Logan is a sweet sense of nostalgia, and what might have been. There is a great deal of sex, which was fine by me & wonderfully written, but everything else is secondary. The drama going on in the background was easily dismissed, and most of the story takes place over a weekend in Myrtle Beach.  The fast-paced storyline covers a lot of ground in record time, and comes together nicely in the end.
Quick, sexy, and fun!

Excerpt:

She couldn’t logically think through something that was ninety-nine percent emotional, but what if she took the emotion out of it? What if she reduced them to a baser, primal level, like animals circling each other in the wild? A dog in heat didn’t study the neighbor’s Doberman and wonder if he would be around the next day. The bitch rolled over, allowed him to take what he wanted, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Comparing her and Logan to dogs seemed ridiculous, but that was the only way she knew to cope with the overwhelming magnitude of the situation. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she slowly, tentatively reached out to him. With a barely-there touch, she pressed her index finger to the edge of his forehead, drew it across the unfamiliar scar at his temple, then down to the one intersecting his upper lip. He closed his eyes and moaned as a shudder shook his torso and his head fell back on his neck. Seeing him respond to her touch as strongly as ever gave her the courage to continue her exploration. Using a whisper-soft touch designed to drive him crazy, she traced the outline of his upper lip, then pulled a long, slow sweep along the bottom one. Her breath caught in her throat and she gasped in surprise as his lips parted and his teeth latched onto her finger, capturing her in the velvety heat of his mouth. His tongue wrapped around her and he sucked once… twice… a third time. The force of the suction shot through her arm, into her chest, and dropped into her sex with the heat and intensity of an atomic bomb. Good, so freaking good, just as always with him. Simple caresses and touches were more powerful and intimate than full-on sex with anyone else, and she closed her eyes and allowed the carnal energy swirling between them to carry her away. As the room spun and she grew lightheaded, like being caught in a massive vortex, a terrifying thought jumped into her brain. What if the past fifteen years hadn’t been a nightmare, but this was nothing more than a dream? If so, it was the best, most realistic dream she’d ever experienced, and she prayed she never woke up. She cracked her eyes open and watched his nostrils flare as the heat continued to build between them. She needed to be closer. To taste him. To feel him pressed against her. Scooting to the edge of her seat, she pressed her knees between his legs and smiled as his eyes flashed hotter and his chest rose and fell rapidly. His mouth was masterful, and while the suction on her finger did crazy things to her entire body, it wasn’t enough. When she tugged on her hand, drawing him closer while also indicating she wanted him to let her go, he released her finger with a loud pop. The sound was like a starting gun, and in the next instant, his lips crashed down on hers, hot, hard, and demanding. Logan had always been sexually dominant, but this… this was unlike anything she remembered. One hand slid through the hair at her temple, then wrapped around the back of her head and held her in place while he angled his head and deepened the kiss. His tongue thrust in and out of her mouth, harsh and nearly punishing, and when he nipped on her bottom lip, both of them groaned with the pleasurable familiarity. The past fifteen years melted away, and she was a twenty-year-old girl again, standing in his bedroom, getting ready to crawl into his bed for the first time. They’d kept their relationship platonic for a year, respecting the boundary constraining them because of his off-and-on relationship with Bobbi Jo. But the night he came back to school and told Lizbeth he and Bobbi Jo had broken things off for good, it took less than thirty minutes to ditch their friends at the restaurant and make their way back to his condo. His hands tangled in her hair and held her head in place as he ravished her mouth. She clawed at his shirt, trying to get to the hard muscle and soft skin beneath. She couldn’t get close enough, fast enough, and desperation had her whimpering into his mouth. When he drew back to grab a breath, she latched onto him to keep him close. “More. I need more.”
