BLOG TOUR! ENCHANTING WILDER BY CASSIE GRAHAM

Title: Enchanting Wilder
Series: Wild #1
Author: Cassie Graham
Release Date: July 28, 2016
Declan Wilder has never met a witch he didn’t hate. He is in the business of protecting the world from all things paranormal, after all. But what happens when one glimpse at an enchanting McKenna Sawyer sends him spinning? Suddenly, Declan can’t help but question everything he thought he knew about the world he’s been sworn to protect for so long.
Plagued by her parents’ death, McKenna Sawyer has no interest in anything outside of her family’s business and her sister’s happiness. So when she’s assigned to warn a Pursuer about his impending death, she’s less than prepared for the way he shifts her world on its axis. And when more time spent with him leads to more secrets about their world revealed, they must decide how their universes fit together — if at all.
The paranormal world is gearing up for a fight, and both Declan and McKenna have been called to battle. But the question remains — will they be fighting for or against each other?
I don’t think I’ll ever forget the relaxed smile on Declan’s lips as he felt the ocean for the first time, or the way he pulled me into his embrace when we finally decided to leave. His needy hands trembled on my leg as we drove back to town because we both knew that was it. Or even the way he looked at me with earnest when he dropped me off at home—promising it wouldn’t be the last time. I won’t forget the forced, dejected smile he had as he waved goodbye because he recognized what he had just promised was a lie. I won’t forget the taillights as he drove around the corner and out of my sight. And, I won’t forget the way my heart ached when I was all alone because I’ve never felt such a sensation before.
I’ll chase those feelings—the ones I shared with Declan. The good and the bad—I’ll pursue those forever. Because they’re some of the best ones I’ve got.

I am new to Cassie Graham but I can say that I will be checking out her other works. She managed to create a world that drew you in and made you believe that anything was possible. There were a few (small) spots that lagged for me but that is simply personal preference.

Declan and McKenna are two well developed characters that I found it easy to relate to. I have to say that I enjoy stories that involve siblings in the paranormal world. I think they give us an insight into the characters that we may not see strictly based on a love interest perspective.

I am excited to see where Ms. Graham takes this world in the future.

Cassie Graham is a firey redhead with an intense love for fairytales–angsty, suspenseful fairytales–but fairytales nonetheless. She’s had all kinds of jobs–but the one she loves the most is being a writer. She finds solace in it.

She’s also the mom to a beautiful little girl. Her greatest joy is watching her grow.

Cassie has always loved to write and is so thankful that she’s able to do it full-time. She’s very lucky to have a husband who works non-stop so she can live out her dream. He’s the reason why writing romance is so easy.

Cassie is a born and raised Arizona girl. Though she has moved around a bit, her home always calls to her. It’s where her heart will remain.

If Cassie isn’t writing, she’s more than likely cooking in the kitchen with her daughter or has her nose buried deep in a good book. She loves front porch sitting, drinking coffee, and constantly dating her husband.

REVIEW BY BRANDY! SUGAR DADDIES BY JADE WEST

517xoG09I+L__SX329_BO1,204,203,200_

3daef-coollogo_com-25129336A sugar daddy website doesn’t seem a sound basis for an A1 life plan, but I’m a small town girl with big dreams, and there’s this one advert, this one crazy advert I can’t stop thinking about…

Two hot guys seeking their Little Miss Right.
Someone who can entertain them, amuse them, fit in with their corporate schedule.
And sex. They want sex.
Lots of sex.
Bonus, right? One major dose of epic win.

Of course, guys like Carl and Rick have their conditions. One being that they come together, or not at all.
Hell, I can live with that.

And there are no skeletons in their designer closet, none that I can find.
Just two hot sugar daddies, with particular tastes, nothing to worry about.

Until Carl and Rick spill the big one, the one that sends the girls running. A whole string of them before me, running to the hills without so much as a backward glance.

Maybe I should run, too. Thanks but no thanks, see you around, guys, nice knowing you.
But I’m already in way too deep for that.

Warning – as with every other Jade West book, reader discretion is highly advised. This novel contains vivid depictions of MMF / MM relationships, and Jade’s characters, as always, have very filthy mouths. Mature readers only, please.

28bd5-coollogo_com-20005795

F*ck me.  This was delicious.  I absolutely adore ménage stories!.  I think they are hot, sexy and more fun than a new dildo on your birthday!

Katie is your typical young college graduate.  She is looking for a way to make the money to make her dreams come true and the Sugar Daddy website seems to be the ticket.  What wouldn’t you do for some sexy fun and cash?

Carl and Rick are a passionate couple who have been looking for a third to complete their relationship.  Finding a woman isn’t the problem, it’s finding the forever girl that they are having trouble with.  It’s hard to find forever when they keep running out the door.

These three click in a way that comes from finding love when you weren’t expecting it and passion that demands to be set free.  When the boys tell Katie the truth of what they are wanting, she has to decide if forever with two men is something she can embrace or if her dreams are a solo effort.

Grab it and read it, ladies.  I don’t think you will be disappointed in the world of Jade West!

REVIEW BY BRANDY! KISS ME THAT WAY BY LAURA TRENTHAM

Kiss-Me-That-Way-Blog-Tour

3daef-coollogo_com-25129336

A river divides Cottonbloom in two: the upscale enclave on the Mississippi side and the rundown, rough and tumble side in Louisiana. They’re worlds apart—but nothing can build a bridge like love…

Cade Fournette never had it easy Cottonbloom. He stuck around long enough to raise his orphaned siblings and then hightailed it out West—and never looked back. Even though he’s made a success of himself in Seattle, Cade never lost the toughness and the angry edge that helped him survive down South. His only weak spot: the girl he left behind…

Monroe Kirby came from the wealthy side of town, but that didn’t protect her from her mother’s drinking—or her mother’s boyfriend. It was Cade who did that, on a long-ago hot September night, before he disappeared…along with a piece of her heart. Now Monroe is a physical therapist who can fight for herself, and it’s Cade who could use some conditioning when he makes an unexpected return back home. Will he and Monroe pick up where they left off and finally explore their mutual passion—or will the scars and secrets of the past divide them once more?

Kiss Me That Way

efede-coollogo_com-20005795

I am going to start off with saying that I found this to be a delightfully well written romance.  It had everything I was looking to read at that moment.  Love, innocence, passion and a southern charm that the Belle in me found intriguing.

Monroe and Cade grew up together and there is something to be said for small town romances.  Cade is an interesting character and while I liked him, there was something that kept me from embracing him completely.  Monroe is a girl after my own heart.  She is a southern woman and I will let you read the story to assess my meaning. 🙂

I am an erotica girl by nature so a sweet romance has to tempt me in order for me to jump on board.  There are very few authors can manage to do that but you can bet Laura Trentham is on that list.

Monroe’s lips silenced the rest of his question. The champagne on his tongue was almost
as intoxicating as his scent. The music from the great room drifted, muted and unrecognizable.
As if slow dancing, Cade wrapped his arms around her and turned them enough so he could close
the door, leaving them in silence, except for the ticking of a clock.
His hands roamed her bare back, slipping inside of her dress to brush the top curves of
her buttocks. She pushed him backward against the wall. Infinitely stronger than her, he could have held his ground or taken charge at any point, but the fact that he let her lead only made her want him more. She was done listening to logic, done fighting her hunger for him. She wanted him.
Cupping her cheeks, he pulled his lips from hers. “And again you do the unexpected.”
“Unwanted?” she whispered.
“Does it look like I’m protesting?” His breath puffed against her cheek before he kissed her once more, slipping his tongue alongside hers, before his mouth retreated once more. She tipped into him seeking more. He took her weight, bracing his legs farther apart, but evaded her mouth.
“I watched you dancing with Tarwater. What are you playing at? Is he the man you want to be seen with and I’m the one you’re keeping for the dark?” A thread of emotion in his voice tied itself around her heart and bound her. Was he jealous? Hurt? Angry?
“Do you think I’m using you?” She pushed off his chest.
“You know I’m not staying long.”
She did know. She just didn’t want to think about the day he would walk away from Cottonbloom. And from her. “What are you getting at?”
“I think you get something from him you can’t get from me and vice versa. He has clout in this town, but I’m the man that you want in the dark and in your bed, aren’t I?”
“If you think all I care about is my standing in this town, why did you follow me?”
“Because I want you. That’s why I came.” Belligerence instead of seduction beat at his words. Underneath was a boy who did care what Cottonbloom thought of him. He hadn’t always been the poor swamp rat sneaking around in the dark.
“All you want is sex?”
“If that’s what you’re offering.” His voice softened, and he squeezed her hips and fit them together. “I can be rough and dirty and a little bit dangerous if that’s how you want me.”
Arousal flared even as the gentleness of his touch belied his coarse words. He skimmed his good hand from her hip to settle under her breast, his thumb running up and down the exposed skin in between. Her nipple puckered, begging for his touch.
“Is that what you want, sweetheart?”
Her body shifted toward his instinctively, seeking to anchor itself to him, needing to draw from his heat and strength. “Th-that’s not what I want.” Before the words were even out, she knew they were untrue, or at least a partial truth. Sex wasn’t all she wanted. But she did want it.
“Don’t lie to yourself or me.” He dropped his lips to the shell of her ear and nuzzled. She grabbed the lapels of his jacket. “I could take you right here, right now, with the Tarwaters and all of crazy Cottonbloom a few rooms away. And I’d make it good, Monroe. I’d make your body sing. I’d make you beg before giving you everything you need. Then, you could walk back out into that damn party like nothing happened. No one would know the things you want to do in the dark with a poor, dirty boy from Louisiana.”
Her body sang a song of longing and need. She wanted to stay in the dark with him the rest of the night, but there was something even more important she needed to do. With the effort of separating strong magnets, she pried her body from his, opened the door, and took him by the wrist.

Forgiveness in the MC doesn’t come easy…

They say you can never go home again, but I was out to prove them wrong. After a three year absence from the only home I have ever known, the Inferno Glory MC was not welcoming me back with open arms.

Until Colt Sawyer sweeps me off my bike, makes me feel like a woman again, and shows me pleasures I have never dreamed of.

Colt thinks he can save me, but I am not the MC darling everyone remembers me as, and no amount of scorching hot sex or whispering sweet nothings in my ear will change my hardened exterior.

Or at least that is what I thought.

He’s offering me passion, forgiveness and protection. And once secrets start being revealed, the protection he provides me may be the only reason I survive the Inferno Glory MC.

REVIEW by CeeCee

I enjoyed this sizzling tale, but I was somewhat deterred by grammatical errors in the beginning.  I’m not perfect, but in a book this loaded with steamy goodness, you have to know the difference between “drill” and “grill”.  For, a man can “grill” you in front of just about anyone, but will only “drill” you in front of a preferred few, if any at all.  It’s a minor nuisance that seems to drift away towards the middle of the book, however.

The sex scenes are wild and my kind of raunchy, while the characters fall into place with ease.  I didn’t love the heroine, but I didn’t hate her, either.  The whole loner bit grated my nerves a little, but I just passed it off as the ignorance of youth.  The hero is written perfectly, and there’s somewhat of a mystery involved.  Club life has a Hollywood spin at times, but it’s good.

The sex is great, the story wraps up nicely, and there’s a sneak peek for the new series at the end.

I see this as more of an  erotic romance more than contemporary romance.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

An Excerpt from Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply

A couple of hours later, Susan called Pepper. “You are not going to believe this. You have to mate him, Pepper, or I will.”

“What did he do now?” Pepper assumed it was something positive, as excited as Susan sounded.

“He picked up groceries for you! I know I shouldn’t have, but I was curious and I asked to see what he had gotten for you and wow, some of the choicest cuts of steaks, more chocolate mousse pie, everything you’d want for breakfast, and a couple of bottles of wine. He even got you fixings for a lobster bisque he’s going to make. Sounds to me like he’s planning to stay for a while. Which would be a totally good thing, as far as I’m concerned. If he becomes a burden at your place, just send him over to mine. He can bring the groceries too.”

Lobster bisque? No wonder Susan was ready to grab the wolf and mate him.

“Anyway, he declined breakfast and said he’d throw something together at your place.”

Pepper was surprised to hear he had turned down breakfast at Susan’s place. Was he afraid Pepper would view it as Susan making a play for him? If so, he was a lot more intuitive than most guys she knew who, even if they hadn’t wanted anything to do with Susan romantically, would have at least enjoyed a home-cooked breakfast.

“Oh, and he said not to worry. He’d clean up afterward. He asked if you had a Crock-Pot. He said he was going to make his special lobster bisque, but the steaks? Another night maybe? I loaned him my Crock-Pot, in case yours wasn’t easy to find. Please tell me you don’t want him. I’ll let him down gently, and then I’ll do whatever I need to do to claim him.”

Pepper laughed. “Are you sure you could handle him?”

“Seriously? I’d definitely give it a shot. If you don’t want him for a pack leader mate, he’d still be a great addition to the pack—for protection, at the very least—if he were my mate.”

Pepper didn’t believe Eric would be happy as just a follower if he had the opportunity to be a leader. Even if he became a sub-leader, she was afraid that wouldn’t be enough. “He’s a leader at heart.”

“Right. So mate with him so I don’t have to embarrass myself.”

“How would you embarrass yourself?”

“He’s only got eyes for you. And I’d get turned down. You know how it is. A woman is just as hurt by rejection as a man. But I’d feel so much better about it if you caught him. You know we all loved Harold like a brother, but I’ve seen the way Eric is interested in you. And it’s not in the least bit brotherly. With me?” Susan sighed dramatically. “He’s just like Harold was with me. So tell me this business of Eric staying over is becoming a steady habit you don’t want to break.”

“Okay, Susan, part of me says he’s a good bet. That he would be the right one for me and for the pack.”

“Hot—”

“It’s forever you know.”

“Absolutely.”

“Not just for me, but for the whole pack. With Harold, everyone knew him from the time we were children. He was a known quantity. With Eric—”

“Yeah, yeah, so everyone knew Harold would do everything you said he’d do.”

Pepper let out her breath. “Harold didn’t ever want to take charge or suggest anything, even as much as I encouraged him to do so. He just wasn’t a leader. Even when he said he wanted to lead, he didn’t have the personality to make it happen. If I take a new mate, it means change. I won’t control everything with the pack.”

“You don’t think Eric could bring some fresh, new ideas to the pack that would improve things?”

“What if you or others in the pack don’t like his ideas?” What if he turned their whole pack upside down with his different notions?

“We’ll voice our opinion like we always do.”

“What if he doesn’t want to help lead the pack?”

“Fine, then he can just be your hot lover and mate and be part of the pack like the rest of us.”

A hot lover sure had its appeal. And if he could colead without taking over completely, Pepper would sure rethink having a mate. “I’ve got to go, Susan.”

“But you’re seriously considering it, right?”

“I’m…considering it.”

efede-coollogo_com-20005795If you know me at all, you know that I love my paranormal reads.  Terry Spear did not disappoint.

Pepper is the alpha of her pack but the truth is she finds it difficult to trust.  You can’t really blame her.  She is independent (which we don’t always see in were stories), powerful and leader of a pack.  All of those things scream for a male to come in take over, right?  Not.  We see her dealing with a pain in the butt alpha who seems to think she is his for the taking.

When Eric comes around she thinks he is one more that wants to take her pack from her.  However, Eric is different and it doesn’t take long for Pepper to realize it.

Great story that can be read as a standalone!

REVIEW! TRUST ME BY MARGARET WATSON

3daef-coollogo_com-25129336

Raine Taylor has one goal – justice for her murdered sister.  She knows Genie’s husband strangled her and left her in an alley – Peter had been threatening to kill his wife for years.  The police said there was no proof Peter Northrup killed Genie.  So it was up to Raine to make him pay.

When Detective Connor Donovan answers a call about a trespasser outside Northrup’s house, he finds a woman running down the street.  When he tries to stop her, he’s left holding her hoodie as she strikes out like a ninja then vanishes like smoke.

Connor quickly realizes Raine is his mysterious trespasser.  Now he has to figure out why she was outside Northrup’s house at three A.M.  Raine isn’t his usual criminal – she’s a schoolteacher who coaches a tae-kwon-do team of under-privileged girls.   And he’s wildly attracted to her.

Raine needs to stay away from Connor.  She has a plan to deal with Northrup, and she can’t get involved with a cop.  But like two magnets drawing together, she can’t resist him.  Can Connor help her find justice for Genie?  Or will her sister’s killer claim another victim before they can stop him?

Margaret Watson, a star in the world of contemporary romance, grabs you on the opening page and keeps you reading to the happily ever after.” — New York Times bestselling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips

efede-coollogo_com-20005795

This was a good story.  I connected with Raine on an emotional level.  I know what it is like to lose someone especially at the hands of another.  Revenge is a bittersweet emotion though and it takes a strong person to hunt it down and serve it up to the one that deserves it.  Raine knows what it is like to be betrayed by the system and because of that broken system her sister paid the ultimate price.

Connor lives the system and his reaction to Raine is not what he was expecting.  His patience though surprised me.  He believed Raine and was willing to help her and that is what she needed.

There were some traditional plot twists to this story which is fine but there were some surprises that I was not expecting.  I am new to Ms. Watson but I can’t wait to read more.

Mila Rossi is a contemporary romance author. She creates heroines who don’t back down, stand up for themselves and insist on freedom and independence until the right man comes along. Then all rules are thrown out the window. The heroes must be clever, generous and able to throw a girl over their shoulder.

Mila has seen the world and loves to write about it. She also loves to paint vintage anime characters, belly dance, try new foods and perfect her archery skills. She wishes she could partake in extreme sports but only allows her characters to tempt fate. Her own chances of causing disasters are just too high.

Jason and Sarah.  They were an interesting pair.  Sarah is a virgin that is ready to “get it over with.”  I personally don’t understand that mentality but that seems to be who Sarah is as  a character.  I like a female character that is powerful, knows what she wants and has no qualms about going after it.  FYI though, I wouldn’t have done the pickup thing at my friend’s office party.  If you are wanting a one night stand, you don’t do it in an environment where you could cause a problem for your friend or run into them again.
Jason was a hot and sexy MMA trainer.  Yummy!  He dropped the ball for a few minutes but Sarah doesn’t seem to have a problem with putting him in his place!  I love reading about a strong character.  There is nothing like two people who are not looking for any kind of connection and it smacks them right in the face.
I was delighted to read this story and I look forward to more from Mila Rossi!

And it doesn’t help that his current hands-off “friendship” is with the cute-as-hell new sideline reporter he’s assigned to train. Turns out, not only is the woman damn sweet, she also knows as much about football as he does. Like it or not though, Jackson has to remind himself that sex is the only thing he has to offer . . . until now.

Leila Hart’s fast-growing friendship with Jackson is something she’d never risk, no matter how unbelievably seductive the reward. Becoming an NFL sportscaster has always been the goal, and thanks to Jackson’s fierce support and mentoring, it all finally seems within reach. Problem is, a girl can only take so much of that sexy-as-sin voice whispering dirty, filthy football stats in her ear before she loses all self-control. A workplace romance with Jackson is a disaster waiting to happen, especially for someone with big dreams . . . and secrets of her own.

Advance praise for Jackson’s Trust

“My life is . . . complicated.” Jackson broke his gaze away from her. “A relationship would be doomed to fail from the start.”

He sounded genuinely disappointed. Almost wistful. The way her grandmother had sounded years ago when her doctors told her she had to change her diet to cut out sweets, her favorite thing ever.

His eyes found hers again. “Funny thing is that I used to be one of those guys who figured he’d have a kid or two by now. Cute hell raisers who’d help me spoil their mom on Sunday mornings, that sort of thing.” Doting affection filtered into his tone. “And vice versa. A partner in crime who’d help me plan surprises for the kids that would be so stinkin’ adorable that I’d max out the memory on my phone taking photo after photo.”

Good grief, she was pretty sure one of her ovaries just fainted.

Leila had the sneaking suspicion that she was going to fall for this man. Hard. “So because of your secretly complicated life, you only date women who want . . .”

“Sex.” His eyes stayed glued to hers as he dropped the one word like a bomb. “Just sex. At their place, not mine. Occasionally, with lunch or dinner as well, but never breakfast.”

Wow. That was the very definition of just sex, alright.

“That honest enough for you?”

Yep. That worked. Did it settle her curiosity at the moment? Unquestionably. Did it get her to want to widen the number of spaces between them on the game board?

Not so much.

She watched him watch her reaction to his answer, and gave him the smile she knew he wasn’t expecting. Along with the follow-up she knew he really wasn’t expecting. “So you flirting with me earlier was you picking up on some sex-only, no-breakfast-in-bed vibe I have going on?” she teased. “That’s a pretty powerfully accurate gift you got there, Skippy.”

Aaand they were back to standing on the same square on the game board.

“Sunshine, why do I get the feeling you don’t really have a boyfriend?”

* * * * *

Jackson found his palms flat against the wall on either side of her shoulders before he could stop himself. And yet he did nothing to remedy what was surely a bad decision on his part, work-wise. Instead, he just watched her, and waited for an answer.

Leila’s gaze pulled away from his a moment later, and dropped down to his tie. While her teeth sank into that lush lower lip he’d been fascinated with since yesterday, she reached out her free hand to straighten and smooth out his tie.

Oddly, the unbidden action was a penetrating fist to his chest. He hadn’t been lying about having had more than a few passing thoughts of a wife and kids to spoil. And this tie-straightening? It belonged right there in the vault with all the other untouchable daydreams for his life.

When her lips parted then, instead of an answer, he got another question. “Why do you insist on calling me sunshine?”

“You don’t like it?”

“I’d rather you call me by my name.”

Exhaling slowly, he admitted, “Me too. Which is why I’m sticking to sunshine.”

Eyes still glued to his tie, she resumed her distracting lip biting, looking as reflective as she did amused. “So does that mean I shouldn’t call you Jackson?”

Holy shit, he liked the sound of his name on her lips. Too damn much. “Call me Jackson.” It wasn’t a reply to her inquiry. It wasn’t even a request. It had edged over to a demand

This was a fabulously refreshing read!  It is so nice to read something that is different from everything else on my tablet.

I loved Leila and Jackson.  Leila knew what she wanted and was willing to step outside of her family’s narrow-minded world to find her bliss.  I adored the fact that she was a football junkie.  I love the game but I am no where near her level of talent!

Jackson had me stumped for a few minutes.  I understood his love of the game and finding a kindred soul in Leila but the twists and turn this story took left me hungry for more!  I don’t like to give away the story but let’s just say that there is so much more to Jackson then I was ever expecting.

This is a sizzling read with all the sweetness you would expect from Violet Duke and I can’t wait for more!

What was he doing?

Aiden downshifted into a lower gear as they reached a busier street. Madison’s knuckles were white where she gripped the car. He could hear her panting for breath over the purr of the engine and it set his teeth on edge.

He should have sent her on her way, but he hadn’t been able to. The way her eyes had pleaded with him, the desperation.

He’d bet his Challenger she was innocent. And he didn’t harm innocents. There weren’t a lot of limits left to him, but that was one.

There was still a chance this whole thing could be a setup. Madison could be playing him. This whole divorce might be a ruse. But if it were, they had even the police fooled. No, Madison’s story was at least partly truthful. She was Dustin’s ex, but she might also be the key to learning how to pry open the inner ranks of Michael Evers’s organization.

That didn’t answer why he had Madison in his car, or why he pushed the Challenger in turns or zipped through traffic. This kind of driving was asking for trouble, but the way her breathing hitched, how she squeaked when he cut it close passing another car or skidded around a turn—it only encouraged him. By the time he reached the highway and headed toward the night’s meet-up, the pitch of her noises had changed, dropping an octave. Yeah, fast cars had that kind of effect on some people.

“How exactly did you go from being a housewife to a roller derby girl?” She baited his curiosity like few things did these days unless it was connected to Evers. His life was one, sad refrain—catch the bastard.

Madison chuckled. “Wish fulfillment. In high school I wanted the family I didn’t have. When I got divorced, I wanted to be the kind of woman who didn’t let life keep her down. Want to take a bet on what I do next?”

Her humor surprised a laugh out of him. She was an interesting woman, that was for sure.

It wasn’t long before the lights of Miami faded behind them and the Everglades stretched out on either side.

For the couple miles it took to reach the race site, he could pretend he wasn’t doing a job. That he was just a guy, driving a fast car with a pretty girl by his side. It was a nice dream, but it wasn’t for him.

He exited onto a two-lane road that seemed to go nowhere. Unless you knew where you were going. He took a turn and taillights lit up the darkness. Other speed junkies on the search for a fix.

They’d created a loose association of drivers. Those people in Miami who felt they had what it took under the hood to go fast and drive hard met up for a little friendly competition. At least they pretended it was friendly.

He passed a four-way stop, rounded another turn, and the night came alive with headlights, running lights, and the beat of a dozen different sound systems blaring music. There were a couple of groups dancing, some popping and grinding while others pulled out the smooth, salsa moves. People milled up and down the street, taking a look under the hood of some of the most jacked-up cars in the state.

“What’s this?” Madison asked. They passed the outlying vehicles, the people lined up to watch the beginning of the race.

“This is race night.” He revved the engine and chuckled when she jumped.

“Okay, smart-ass, I can kind of figure that one out on my own. I mean,”—she waved at the crowds gathering on the shoulder, the people set up for a show and the cars—“is this a thing? What’s going on?”

She had no idea the world she’d just stepped into.

“Every couple of weeks we have race night. Rules are simple—you have to have won a race since the last race night and someone has to verify you won. We pick a place, set the track, and see who wins. Simple, really.”

A redheaded woman stepped onto the asphalt directly in front of them. She wore a tiny pair of white shorts and a bikini top. She wiggled her fingers at him and smirked.

Roni was a damn fine driver, but you wouldn’t know it looking at her. She preferred to distract with her looks, as much as her twin, Tori, preferred to hide them under grease. Another of the guys pulled a few chairs out of

the way and Aiden reversed into the vacant spot.

“Who’s that?” Madison asked. Her posture had gone tense, rigid.

“A friend,” he replied.

He gave the accelerator one last tap to hear the purr before shutting it off. Too bad he’d been too wrapped up with a restoration job the last few weeks to make any of the propositioned races. It would have been interesting to see how Madison reacted when he burned over the finish line. Some women really got into it. Was she the type? He kind of wanted to find out.

Since meeting her that afternoon, he’d rolled around a few ways to tackle this situation. He felt pretty certain coming clean with her was the best choice. The question now was how to continue. There was no denying his attraction to her. He could play that angle, which would be a perfect explanation to Dustin why he was hanging

out with his ex-wife.

Aiden stepped out of the Challenger. The damp evening air wrapped around him like a blanket. This far out into the Everglades they might as well be swimming. Without the noise of the cars, they could hear the buzz of cicadas and calls of the birds that lived in the wetlands. It was a beautiful and deadly habitat.

Madison circled the car and met him at the edge of the road. He could feel the gaze of not just his crew on him, but everyone surrounding them. There was no doubt that when Aiden or Julian did something, people paid attention, but this was a little much. He let his gaze travel over those gathered, taking in the position of the

major players, the sideline jockeys, the outright gang members, and the other crews who just wanted to drive fast and score quick cash.

Why the hell were they staring?

He turned toward Madison—oh.

Standing in front of his Challenger, dressed like she’d just stepped off the pages of a hot-rod magazine, of course she’d draw the eyes of everyone in a quartermile radius. Those long legs were silhouetted by the running lights of his car and the thin fabric of her shirt was practically see-through.

“Come here.” He grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the light.

“What? What’s wrong with you?” Madison grumbled.

He didn’t reply, because what was he going to say?

I don’t want everyone looking at you like that.

“Hey, mami,” Julian said. He stopped between them and peered down at Madison. Julian was a big man, of

mixed Cuban and Mexican heritage. His face was scarred from an IED explosion and more than a couple fights. He still kept his hair military short, which only accentuated the broken lines of his face and his dark, soulless eyes. Julian was a man with a singular purpose in life. Little else filled him now. He was hardly the same man Aiden remembered from boot camp.

Madison arched one brow and stared up at him, as if she were issuing a challenge. Aiden might find the exchange entertaining—were she tangling with anyone else. Julian though, he wasn’t a man to be trifled with.

“Madison, this is Julian. He co-owns the shop with me.”

“Nice.”

Julian’s gaze flicked toward Aiden, but he didn’t meet it. Why had he brought her?

She put her hands on her hips and the neckline gaped forward.

Right. How could he forget those curves?

“You still racing tonight?” Aiden asked to get Julian to stop leering at Madison’s breasts. If she didn’t need Aiden in her life, then she really didn’t need Julian’s baggage barreling into hers.

Julian’s lips curled. “Yeah, heat four.”

“Hey, boys.” Tori stepped into their cluster, holding two beers. Unlike her sister, Tori wore cargo pants and a tank top, her red hair braided on either side of her head. A grease smudge marked her cheek, which was pretty much the norm. “Oh, sorry, didn’t realize you had a third. Hi, I’m Tori.” She handed the bottles to them and wiped her hand off on her pants before offering it to Madison.

“Hi.” It was almost comical to watch Madison’s face, the way it creased. She no doubt recalled Roni’s distracting shorts and bikini-top number to Tori’s cargos and tank top.

“Hey, Aiden.” Roni crossed the street at a jog. Up and down the street people stopped to stare, which was exactly why Roni picked her race-day outfits to show as much skin as possible. Distraction was her favorite tactic.

This was a fun read that reminded me of Fast & Furious.  I love me some bad boys and Aiden fit the bill!  Aiden is working with the FBI to take down some drug dealers and that is always a good thing.

There were some spots that I struggled with connecting with Madison but it got there.  I really liked the fact that she learned from her mistakes and chose to better herself.  The roller derby bit was awesome.

This was the first in the series and I can’t wait to see where Aiden’s crew goes from here.  If you like fast cars, hot bodies and romance then this is the book for you.  Get it now!
