MEASURED RISK
By
Natasha Blackthorne
Book one in
the Regency Risks Series
He is her
most dangerous temptation, the only man she has ever trusted and now
he is demanding her submission. Dare she take the risk?
Emotionally
scarred in the horrific accident that took her husband’s life,
Lady Cranfield is imprisoned by her lingering terror of horses and
carriages. She longs to be closer to the fascinating Earl of Ruel, as
she senses intuitively that he might be able to teach her how to
overcome the terrors that hold her in bondage.
And now she’s
willing to risk almost anything—her reputation, even her
virtue—to find out.
But what Lord
Ruel proposes startles her.
When the shy,
studious and socially awkward young widow approaches him, Lord Ruel
instantly senses she will be the sweetest, most submissive experience
of his life—but first he must gain her complete trust. Lord
Ruel makes Lady Cranfield a non-negotiable offer: His help in return
for her submission and obedience.
But Lady
Cranfield grew up neglected by her ducal parents, raised by servants
and then later ignored by her handsome, charming husband. She’s
learnt to protect her heart at all costs and she trusts no one but
herself.
How can the jaded Earl of
Ruel break through Lady Cranfield’s self-defences and show her
how to love when he himself has spent his life avoiding that tender
trap?

She backed all the way into
the bookcase.
“Why did you
run away?” His deep voice settled in her belly, rich and warm,
like crème
brûlée on
a cold winter’s night.
“Because I
wanted you to follow.” She tried to sound sophisticated and
seductive, but her voice choked off on the last word.
Ruel placed his hand on the
shelf above her head and blocked her path to the door. His tall,
solidly muscled body leaned over her, surrounding her with the
sumptuous, sinful scents of tobacco, Scotch whisky and something
masculine and undeniably dangerous. A slow, sensual smile stretched
his hard mouth.
He appeared different.
Softer. More approachable.
At the change, her insides
seemed to flip over.
“Well,
sweeting, getting us off alone was a very inspired idea.” He
touched one of her fallen ringlets. “I am bored to distraction
with endless talk of hunting and fencing.”
As he slowly wrapped the
curl around two fingers, he brushed her collarbone. Fiery sparks
tingled down her spine, so intense that she shivered and her nipples
beaded, pressing against her stays. By some instinct she hadn’t
even known she possessed, she arched her back, presenting herself for
his assessment.
His eyes shone so vividly
blue against his bronzed face that they resembled cornflowers. She
swallowed tightly and wished for a long drink of claret. This more
personal side of him suddenly seemed far more hazardous than his
usually fierce exterior.
Well, no matter. There was
nothing to fear. She would allow only as much contact as need be to
get to know him a little. Since being torn from her lonely yet secure
life in Ireland and thrust into Society at age sixteen, she’d
spent her time allowing people only as near as was comfortable. She
was an expert at emotional evasion.
It should be easy to regain
her control.
But now, as rays of the
late-afternoon sun played over his pale hair, turning it the colour
of winter wheat, all her carefully rehearsed words flew from her
mind.
Say
something—anything—else he will think you’re a
bird-wit.
An intimate smile, one that
invited her to play, tugged at his mouth.
“In a situation
like this, alone with a gentleman, it’s perfectly normal for a
lady to feel some apprehension.” His hushed voice, barely
audible above the piano and boisterous singing from down the
corridor, accentuated their isolation. His gaze became so piercing
that she had to lower her eyes.
He brushed his fingertips
over her cheek. “She will invariably ask herself if he will try
to kiss her.”
She jerked her eyes back to
his face. God, he couldn’t mean to—not yet, surely…
Peculiar, heated chills swept over her. She tried to take a step
back, but found her arse flush against the bookshelf.
He leaned closer; so close
that his Scotch-scented breath tickled her face. “And just in
case you are wondering, Lady Cranfield—the answer is most
assuredly yes.”
She should demand that he
put his arm down so she could pass by and leave. She really should.
But she couldn’t stop looking at his hard mouth and wondering
what it would feel like upon hers. He was so close to her that his
breath blew on her lips. If she moved but a fraction, she’d be
kissing him.
Kissing him.
Dear God. Her breaths began
to come very fast and short. Her throat went tight with a suppressed
moan.
His eyes burnt as brightly
as aquamarines. He looked so fierce. If he kissed her, if he dared…
Oh God, it would be so harsh. That cruel-looking mouth could express
itself no other way.
Excitement rushed through
her, sending tingles to every point of her body, even her toes.
But no, he wouldn’t.
Not yet.
He kept leaning closer. He
didn’t close his eyes. Instead, he seemed to focus all the
harder upon her.
Her heart pounding, unable
to move away, she braced herself for his assault.
His lips brushed hers,
barely. A gossamer caress.
He lifted his head.
It was done.
Ended.
And it hadn’t even
begun.
He held her chin, appearing
so cool, so unaffected. His kiss had seemed to sear her. An urge to
put her fingers to her lips arose in her. She resisted it, for it
would give away too much of how she was affected.
Never show your
feelings.
He traced his thumb along
her lower lip, slowly, deliberately, as he studied her with eyes that
now glittered with something powerful and predatory. Heat pooled in
her pelvis, low and spreading even lower.
She went weak all over, as
if she’d lain in a sunny window seat for too long. Her knees
almost buckled. She forced them to lock. To be strong.
It should not have affected
her so profoundly. It had been just a peck—not a true kiss at
all. William had poured out all of his skill upon her and hadn’t
garnered even a tenth of the reaction in her that this man’s
peck had.
Ruel traced her jaw line
with his fingertips. Unthinkingly, she leaned in to his touch.
“Of course,
once he has kissed her, then it’s his turn to wonder…”
His voice sounded unnaturally loud in her ears. “How will she
respond? Will she withdraw, or can he ignite some hidden fire?”
She sensed that he was
toying with her. She didn’t understand flirtation—why had
she imagined she could carry off this ruse? Was he making advances in
order to have a laugh with Francesca and her simpering friends later?
Hurt blossomed in her chest. She resented him for that. She ought to
feel indignant, superior, uncaring—anything but hurt.
“Please don’t
make sport of me.”
She cringed. Was that
quavering, pleading voice really hers?
An infinitesimal pause.
“Now, why on earth would I do such a thing?” His voice
was as smooth as velvet.
“To please your
vanity,” she replied, trying to regain her wits.
“Here.”
He placed her hand to his chest. The contours of his muscles were
hard, powerfully developed. Even more so than she’d expected.
His body heat radiated through the satin and, beneath her hand, his
heart’s beat was rapid and strong.
“Is that
vanity?” He put a finger under her chin, giving her no choice
but to face him. “Is it?” He gentled his grip.
The warmth in his voice
settled over her like luscious hot chocolate. Melting her insides to
quivering burgoo, rendering her speechless, unable to move.
“My dear,
lovely Lady Cranfield, I am going kiss you again.”

BLOG TOUR STOP! FRENCH BLUE BY NATASHA BOND
In public, hotshot communications specialist Lisa Archer presents a perfectly polished image. Privately, she harbors a secret desire to shed her restrained exterior—and her business suit—to explore the world of discipline and domination.
She can’t risk being seen in a BDSM club, but when she’s introduced to the most sought-after Dom in Paris, his powerful presence makes her feel like she’s treading on safe ground. Even better, he has no interest in falling in love, which fits right in with her three-month break between contracts.
Bored with the club scene, Olivier favors private arrangements with one sub at a time. This keeps anyone from getting too close to emotional scars that run so deep he’s lost the will to paint—or to love. A temporary liaison, staying well within his boundaries while pushing hers, suits him perfectly.
Lisa’s first visit to Olivier’s apartment is deliciously shocking. Yet as they begin to strip away the layers guarding their souls, the pain and the pleasure could be too much to keep things strictly business…
Warning: Contains a smart, sassy heroine who thinks she’s in control—and a gorgeous French Dom who knows he is. Lots of gettin’ naked, in private and in public. A bit of voyeurism, a bit more spanking, and more hot sex than you can shake a riding crop at.
This was a very good read. Lisa is wanting to explore more than just her everyday existence. She is a woman that believes she has control over her life and at the same time longs for just a little more excitement in it. Olivier is just the man to show her what real control is.
BDSM has become something that a lot of people want to explore but fail to realize that trust and control are needed for it to be enjoyable. Both Lisa and Olivier have been burned in relationships and they both are hesitant to start over again. The sex is passionate and written in a way that leaves you longing for a Dom of your own.
This is the second book in the series and my first by this author. She will be on my TBR list from this point on.
BLOG TOUR STOP! COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA SONG #1 BY DANIELLE-CLAUDE NGONTANG MBA (@GHBTours)
This Could Have Been Our Song! A coulda woulda shoulda ballad…
Coulda Woulda Shoulda Song #1
By- Danielle-Claude Ngontang Mba
Genre-Family saga/ chick lit/ interracial romance/ romantic comedy
Love can be such a “coulda, woulda, shoulda” song sometimes…
Lucia Mpobo-Riddell could have been a dancer like the rest of women of her family but instead she chose music. Marcus Grant could have been a doctor like the rest of his family but instead he chose music. She also could have not fallen for Marcus on her birthday but she did. And Marcus, he could have told Lucia the truth about his real reason for being in Toronto that night, but he didn’t. Now they have to deal with big reveals and consequences: Marcus almost stealing her job and being force to work on an album together. Marcus, because he couldn’t swallow his pride, leaves Toronto and goes home to London. Lucia, because she just couldn’t give up on her first amazing opportunity to produce a whole album. And to complicate the situation further, the band they’re working for is not the easiest one. Mary Gillis, Marcus’ on and off flame, still has a hold on him. Greg McMullen, Lucia’s close friend and former dance partner is back in town and has been in love with her for years. Then there’s Marcus and Lucia, in the middle of their own a professional and personal tug-of- war with each over and the rest of the world. But maybe things could still work out… All things considered, this could have been one heck of a love song!
Review by Brandy
This was a good read and a little outside of the things I normally read. The author is talented and managed to create a very full story filled with in depth characters and a story that drew you in and made you wonder about the choices you have made in your life.
I like how Lucia was able to step out of her comfort zone and embrace something besides dance. Sometimes we truly find ourselves in the places we least expect. She was a very talented but I did wonder if maybe she was written to be a little over talented. Marcus has secrets that make you wonder how this story is going to turn out. I have to admit that I am not sure how their relationship is supposed to unfold when the truth is not always divulged. The secondary characters add so many twists and turns to the story that it leaves you singing for more.
This is a wonderful series starter and I am interested in seeing where book two is heading.
LUCIA
I’m almost halfway down my Frappuccino when I see Greg coming out of the theatre.
He’s late and he isn’t wearing his workout outfit but a loose pair of jeans and
a dark, thin hoodie. By the time he reaches me across the street, he’s made at
least ten heads turned, men and women alike.
“Hi, handsome specimen.” I hand him his drink.
“Hi, yourself,” Greg answers and sit down next time. “Sorry I took a shower after
rehearsal.” He eagerly starts to drink his Frappuccino. “Delicious…just like
you, beolkku.” He’s kissing my neck.
“You shouldn’t have. I’m just walking you home.” I get off the bench and stretch.
Today is a perfect day for a walk downtown. “I almost forgot what happens each
time I’m outside with you.”
“What does happen?” Greg asks, putting his arm around my hips and lightly pushing me.
“Umm…let’s see,” I say, staring back, and another woman is smiling at him. “The entire
city, straight and gay combined, are ogling you.”
“Oh…that,” he laughs. “I could say the same about you, Lulu.”
“So how are rehearsals going?” I ask. I’m taking his hand while walking west on
King Street. His condo is just off Tecumseth Street.
“Well, it does help that we’re in our fourth month. But our stage here is smaller so I
had to make a few adjustments,” he says, finishing his drink. Greg was already
famous worldwide for his choreographies and own performances. But with a show
of this magnitude, he raised his own stake.
“I’m so proud of you, Greg,” I tell him.
“I’m proud of you too. Getting out there on your own wasn’t an easy decision but you
made it and I’m sure only good thing will come out of it,” he says before we
cross the street. The happy hour crowd is not out just yet but the King West
restaurants are getting ready.
“It’s not a hundred dancers and three-hour shows but we’re getting there…or not,” I
joke.
“You got my sister’s vote. She and Michael really hit it off last week. I think
they’re going on their fifth date tonight.” he says. He turns and looks at me.
“Should this bother me?”
“You liked him, remember; you sent me there,” I tease. I have no idea what brothers
should feel. I only have my sisters and we tend to encourage the naked policy.
“Yes, but not her!”
“He’s a good guy, Greg. I’m sure he likes her at least as much as she so obviously
likes him,” I giggle. Kathie in love is always adorable. I wish her the best.
“Axelle’s pregnant; she told us yesterday. So next summer I’m going to be an
aunt for the third time,” I tell him with a big smile. We’re turning south on
Tecumseth Street and the walk is almost over. I’ll take the streetcar back to
the subway station.
“Congratulation!
That’s great news! Which reminds me…” He takes an envelope out of his hoodie
pocket. “I have your tickets for the premiere.”
“We could have paid for them, you know,” I tell him and check the tickets; six to
be exact. Annie will be able to come with us as well. “Those are great seats.
Thank you, Greg.” I kiss him on the cheek.
“You will pay; I expect you there at least once a week,” he says, touching his
cheek.
“Your show is here until late January!” I’m completely shocked. I’ll be there, front
row.
“You’ll be there…” he says. We’re getting to his building.
“Singing and dancing my ass off!” I say in his lobby. I haven’t been here this year yet.
Have I been so out of it this year? “It was a great walk. I’ve missed doing
that with you,” I tell him and I sincerely do.
“I just plain missed you, my yeppeun17
Lulu.” He’s caressing my cheek and making me blush.
Making me blush? “Please! You’re the handsome, perfect specimen,” I tell him. [17. Beautiful]
“That sounds like I’m irresistible,” he says softly and it’s making me feel warm
inside.
Making me feel warm inside? “Duh…since the academy, no woman has ever been able to
resist you,” I say.
“There has been at least one woman immune all this time,” he murmurs before kissing
me. I know this type of kiss; I gave one for the first time on Noor’s wedding
day. But this is the first time that anyone’s given one to me.
“Greg…” I manage to mumble when he finally releases my lips. I didn’t ask you to stop!
“Not that immune after all, Lulu,” he says against my mouth.
No one could be immune after a kiss like that given by a man who looks like Greg. When he starts kissing me again, I kiss him
back. I’m not leading him on; I really want to explore this. I’m not leading
him on…

Cynthia never aspired to be the subject of scandal. But with her husband off gallivanting across Persia, what was a lady to do? This was a good read. I like historicals but have moved away from them in the past year or so. It was nice to get back to one of my favorite genres with an author I enjoy. This story is about a young woman named Cynthia who is married to a man named Damian. The marriage is not a conventional one though. Damian loses a piece of property during a drunken bit of revelry. In order to reclaim the property, he weds Cynthia and promptly takes off.
Cynthia is not a scandalous person but you can’t always stop the gossips from running their mouths and it doesn’t take long for rumors to fly that she has taken a lover. Damian comes back after a year and wants to reclaim his wife. I was not a fan of Damian. It takes a lot to redeem a character in my eyes when they just dump their spouse and go on with their life. Ms. Neville did try to change my opinion on Damian. I think a man needs to work hard to prove that they are wanting to be with you for the right reasons and not just because it’s convenient.
This story is good but I have to admit that I felt like there could have been more depth to the characters. Damian’s character seemed like he could have been more. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. This is a book that you could curl up with and you would finish it and be fine with it. It was not a spicy read so those who are looking for something tame, this is your speed.
This was an interesting read, but it was hard to warm up to the hero! Damien mistreated Cynthia far too much for me to see the HEA in the beginning. The fact that the story starts off with him gambling something so precious was an immediate red flag. He continued to grind my nerves with selfish acts and only shows kindness when it suits him. However, I’m a sucker for drama, so I had to see how it played out.
Of course, the story turned out to be a success! There’s gossip, a sinful plot, a kidnapping, and a very regretful husband trying to make amends. I admit that it takes Cynthia’s ability to hold on to “the little things” in order to keep her love alive, but that’s what makes her such a good heroine. I’m glad I stuck with it, as the author wraps everything up in a sweet manner!

Miranda Neville grew up in England. During her misspent youth she devoured the works of Georgette Heyer, Jean Plaidy, and any other historical novels she could lay hands on. As a result she attended the University of Oxford to study history, ignoring all hints that economics might be a more practical subject. She spent several years writing catalogs of rare books and original letters and manuscripts for Sotheby’s auction house in London and New York. Much of her time in this job was spent reading the personal correspondence of the famous. This confirmed her suspicion that the most interesting thing about history is people.
Since moving to Vermont, she has worked in Special Collections at Dartmouth College and as an editor and journalist on Behind the Times, a small, idiosyncratic (and now defunct) monthly newspaper. She is the owner and editor of a weekly advertiser in the Upper Valley, a job that leaves her enough time to write fiction.
Her first book, Never Resist Temptation. was published by Avon in 2009. The first two books in the Burgundy Club series will be published in 2010.
She lives with her daugher, Becca, a college student and confirmed drama queen, and two cats who are never on the right side of any door.

BLOG STOP! DESTINATION TO BE DETERMINED BY J.B. MCGEE AND NICOLE ANDREWS MOORE
Life has never been easy for Emmy London. Raised in foster homes, she learned to never get too comfortable, to never let anyone in. When her classmate, Chloe Oliver, disappeared at the tender age of five, so did she. From that moment on, life was never the same. She kept a secret and kept her distance from everyone.
With the twentieth anniversary of Chloe’s disappearance looming, Mr. Oliver sought Emmy’s assistance, asking her to revisit the past in order to give him the closure he so desperately needed. As a private investigator, she was accustomed to facing unpleasant situations and sifting through others’ lives. Unfortunately, this time to do that, she had to face her own.
Soon, she herself is being followed. A handsome stranger insinuates himself in her life. Everything she believed and thought she knew is called into question beginning with…can she turn her curse into a gift?
Her mission is clear, her destination is to be determined.
J.B. McGee was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina.
She is the mother of two beautiful children and a stay at home
mom/entrepreneur. She finished her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood
Education at the University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006. During her time
studying children’s literature, a professor had encouraged her to become a
writer.
In 2011 it was discovered that both of her children and
her husband have Mitochondrial Disease, a disease that has no cure or
treatments. Being a writer allows J.B. to remain close to her family, work on
raising awareness for this disease and to lose herself in the stories that she
creates for her fans.
J.B. McGee and her family now reside in Buford, Georgia.
She is an Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of her debut series, the ‘THIS’

She is represented by Stacey Donaghy with Donaghy Literary Group. Her books can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Apple, and Smashwords in ebook, paperback, and even some audiobooks. The German translation for her debut novel, Broken, will be available July 1, 2014, through Amazon Crossing.
Nicole Andrews Moore has been an author since 2011, but it was after
the birth of her daughter, Kenna in January of 2012, that she was determined to
make it a full-time career. As the
