Where do I even begin with this story?  This was one of those stories that touched me deeply on a personal level.  That doesn’t always happen but when it does, I take note.

Craig was a douche.  There wasn’t a lot that drew him to me in the beginning but it is humbling to see a man realize what his issues are and try to overcome them.  Marisela touched me deeply.  Her story is heartbreaking and the truth is that it is so very common.  Her strength and perseverance is inspiring.  While there are few things I would have changed with her actions after she returned to Corpus, the truth is we all handle these things differently.

This story is one that touches the soul and reminds us that we never truly know the pain another is hiding from.  I loved it and encourage you to read this amazing story.

Taken by Love is the fifteenth book in the Love in Bloom series and the seventh book in The Braden’s series.   While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.

 Daisy Honey left Trusty Colorado to go to college and never planned on returning other than seeing her parents. However, her father got hurt so Daisy returned for what she hoped was temporary to help take care of her father’s farm. Daisy is a gorgeous woman and was gorgeous as a child as well. She fielded rumors left and right, and the local girls always taking cheap shots at her. Daisy has no true reason to stay well that is until she meets Luke Branden.

 Luke Branden is a hot and sexy man. Luke is a local horse breeder and one of the best.  He is the youngest out of all his brothers as well. While Luke wants to settle down he has not found anyone worth his time, well that is until Daisy walked into his life. Daisy has Luke looking back at his childhood and wanting answers to question that have always plagued him. Therefore, Luke goes looking for the answers he seeks.

The chemistry between Luke and Daisy is blistering. It was apparent from the first sight that they had a connection. I enjoyed seeing how both Luke and Daisy tried to fight the attraction and failed. I enjoyed seeing that Luke was not going to force Daisy to stay but let her make the decision that is best for her.

I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters are interesting and engaging.   I loved seeing past characters of the other books make an appearance. Overall, this was a wonderful book. Each book I read by Ms. Foster gets better and better. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Foster has the uncanny ability to continuously deliver stories that enchant, entertain, and enthuse!

Daisy and Luke are lovable, as well as relatable. She’s hell bent on the big city, while his roots are firmly planted in Trusty. As these wonderful characters branch out from their comfort zones and get to know each other again, a beautiful story unfolds.

You just can’t go wrong with these novels! They’re easy to read in one sitting, the romance is perfectly timed, and there’s always an update on past characters. If you’re looking for a feel good story with a little drama, and some very sexy men, this is definitely your book! Can’t wait for the next!

My apologies to the author on the lateness of this review.

This was a really enjoyable read.  FYI, it is a cliffhanger but I don’t mind those.  Jade is one of those people that seems to have to struggle in life.  When she is offered a full ride to a great college she accepts.  I am the type that would have seriously questioned this but I don’t believe anything is given away for free.  Anyway, she meets Garrett and he is not who she expects him to be.  He slowly gains her trusts only to lose it when life and others get in the way.  Garrett’s family doesn’t want him to have anything to do with Jade and I like when a character steps away from the mold and stands up for themselves.

This is a really nice start to a series and I am interested in seeing where Ms. Everhart takes it.

     After dinner, we go back to his room. It’s the first time I’ve been to the second floor. The hallway stinks like beer and sweat. Luckily Garret’s room doesn’t have that odor and it’s much cleaner than I imagined it would be. He has a ton of electronics, including the big TV he mentioned along with a surround sound system. And there are at least 100 movies sitting in a big cardboard box on the floor. 

“Pick whatever you want,” he says as I flip through the movies. 

“You have quite a setup here. It’s like your own movie theater. I don’t even have a TV.”

“You don’t? You need a TV, Jade.”

“No, I don’t. If I want to watch something I’ll just use the one down the hall.”

“That one barely works. If you want to watch TV, come up here.”

“I’m not going to do that. I hardly ever watch TV anyway. Here. Let’s watch this one.” I hold up a cartoon, trying to keep a straight face. “It says it’s about some dogs that solve crimes.”

“How did that get in there? That’s my little sister’s movie.”

“It’s okay, Garret. I don’t care if you like cartoons.”

“That is not my movie. She must’ve stuck it in the box when I wasn’t looking.”

I laugh. “Yeah, sure she did.” 

“Give it here.” He reaches for it, but I won’t let him have it. I quickly stand up, holding it behind my back with one hand while putting my other hand out in front of me trying to keep him away. 

He quickly backs me up against the wall, forcing my outstretched hand against his hard chest. I lower it to my side as he leans his hand on the wall near my head. Then he slowly reaches behind me with his other hand to get the movie. Our bodies are now touching and our faces are just inches apart. My heart is beating erratically and I struggle to keep my breathing steady as I feel his body against mine. 

“Jade.” He gazes down at me with this incredibly sexy smile. “Give me the movie, please.” I try not to stare at his lips but they’re so close and so inviting.

The movie is still in my hand wedged between my lower back and the wall. I push my hips forward slightly to release it, which positions me even closer to him. As he goes to take the movie, I accidentally drop it and he catches it, right behind my butt. I feel his hand there and I freeze as my face heats up. He slowly takes his hand out from behind me and rests it on the wall by my head. I realize I’ve been holding my breath and I force myself to breathe again. 

I look up and our eyes meet. “For the last time, the movie is my sister’s. But if you really want to watch the crime-fighting dog cartoon, we’ll watch it. Or,” he pauses and that sexy smile reappears, “if you want to do something else, we’ll do something else.”

I know from his tone what ‘something else’ is and I really, really want to do ‘something else’ but I promised myself I wouldn’t get involved with a guy at college. Unfortunately, I’ve never been very good with promises.

This was a good read.  I like historicals but have moved away from them in the past year or so.  It was nice to get back to one of my favorite genres with an author I enjoy.  This story is about a young woman named Cynthia who is married to a man named Damian.  The marriage is not a conventional one though.  Damian loses a piece of property during a drunken bit of revelry.  In order to reclaim the property, he weds Cynthia and promptly takes off.

Cynthia is not a scandalous person but you can’t always stop the gossips from running their mouths and it doesn’t take long for rumors to fly that she has taken a lover.  Damian comes back after a year and wants to reclaim his wife.  I was not a fan of Damian.  It takes a lot to redeem a character in my eyes when they just dump their spouse and go on with their life.  Ms. Neville did try to change my opinion on Damian.  I think a man needs to work hard to prove that they are wanting to be with you for the right reasons and not just because it’s convenient.

This story is good but I have to admit that I felt like there could have been more depth to the characters.  Damian’s character seemed like he could have been more.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the book.  This is a book that you could curl up with and you would finish it and be fine with it.  It was not a spicy read so those who are looking for something tame, this is your speed.

This was an interesting read, but it was hard to warm up to the hero! Damien mistreated Cynthia far too much for me to see the HEA in the beginning. The fact that the story starts off with him gambling something so precious was an immediate red flag. He continued to grind my nerves with selfish acts and only shows kindness when it suits him. However, I’m a sucker for drama, so I had to see how it played out.

Of course, the story turned out to be a success! There’s gossip, a sinful plot, a kidnapping, and a very regretful husband trying to make amends. I admit that it takes Cynthia’s ability to hold on to “the little things” in order to keep her love alive, but that’s what makes her such a good heroine. I’m glad I stuck with it, as the author wraps everything up in a sweet manner!

Miranda Neville grew up in England. During her misspent youth she devoured the works of Georgette Heyer, Jean Plaidy, and any other historical novels she could lay hands on. As a result she attended the University of Oxford to study history, ignoring all hints that economics might be a more practical subject. She spent several years writing catalogs of rare books and original letters and manuscripts for Sotheby’s auction house in London and New York. Much of her time in this job was spent reading the personal correspondence of the famous. This confirmed her suspicion that the most interesting thing about history is people.

Since moving to Vermont, she has worked in Special Collections at Dartmouth College and as an editor and journalist on Behind the Times, a small, idiosyncratic (and now defunct) monthly newspaper. She is the owner and editor of a weekly advertiser in the Upper Valley, a job that leaves her enough time to write fiction.

Her first book, Never Resist Temptation. was published by Avon in 2009. The first two books in the Burgundy Club series will be published in 2010.

She lives with her daugher, Becca, a college student and confirmed drama queen, and two cats who are never on the right side of any door.

I let the coat slip out of my fingers and pool onto the floor in an elegantly careless heap.

Dylan stared at me, openly appreciative.

Cameron Ondine is a female sports reporter at the top of her field. She works hard and is always thinking of the wants of the views including how she looks. Cameron comes from a rich family but she breaks from their wishes and carves a path that makes her happy regardless of what they want. While Cameron enjoys sports, she will not date football players.

Zach Anderson is a hot and sexy football player with the Seattle Sharks. Zach does an interview with Cameron that should have been easy, however turned both of their lives upside down, and it was all caught on camera. Zach now has to face the past and all the trouble and drama that it entails.

The chemistry between Zach and Cameron is blistering. Now that Zach and Cameron are together, they have to face the past to deal with the present. The sex scenes were steamy. I loved that it gives the right amount of details without going overboard.

Catching Cameron is the third book in the Love and Football series by Julie Brannagh. While this book is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I found this book well written. The main and the secondary characters were interesting and realistic. I read this book in one sitting. Ms. Brannagh does a good job of drawing you in to the story and leave you wanting more in the end. Overall, this was a wonderful book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I am completely enamored of this talented author!

This fast-paced novel is packed with quirky headlines, drama, passion, and comedy. Although there are serious subjects broached, they are skillfully written to draw you in deeper. Each laugh was contagious, as was each tear. As a lover of football and romance, I was blown away by the perfect balance between realism and fiction.

This author has definitely done her homework concerning female sports journalism and has created a wonderful feel-good story that’s impossible to put down!  I highly recommend this series.

Mandy Parker hates anything Hollywood related due to how it affected her childhood. Mandy is almost desperate not to turn out like her mother to the point of going to a therapist to help her face it. Mandy also has trust issues that also affect her. Mandy is one woman who has trouble dealing with her childhood and her childhood affects all the other aspects of her life. Mandy works as a caterer attempting to make a go of a catering business.

James Lubbock is a hot and sexy man. James works as an assistant locations manager. When he meets Mandy sparks fly and he works hard to earn her trust. I liked that James was willing to work with Mandy and all her issues. Many men would have walked away.

I loved that James helped Mandy deal with the past but never pushed at her. He was very understanding as she faced the past not just with the therapist but her mother and father as well. The chemistry between James and Mandy are blistering.

I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were interesting and engaging. Overall, this was a fabulous book. This book kept you on your toes all the way through.

Mandy glanced at the man seated at table nine. His lean profile and square jaw were classically handsome.

If I were in the market for a man, this one would do just fine.

Plucking a sweating water pitcher from the tray, she made her way through the scattered tables to a two-seater by the window. As she picked up his glass to fill it, she smiled at him and said, “Hi, I’m Mandy, and I’ll be your server this evening. Would you like anything to drink besides water?”

His lips curled into a grin, revealing the straight white teeth of a Hollywood smile, a smile that went all the way to his sea-green eyes. The wrap-around sunglasses perched on his sun-blond hair gave him a casual elegance belied by the Rolex on his tan wrist.

Her heart beat a little faster.

Good thing I’m a professional.

She put the water glass down without spilling a drop. “We have an excellent wine list if you’d like to see it.”

“How do you know I’m a wine connoisseur and not a Bud man?” he challenged.

She gestured to his pressed short-sleeve shirt. “A Bud man wouldn’t be caught dead in that.”

He laughed. “You’re right about that!”

Heat rose in her cheeks. “I’ll get you that list.” She brought the water pitcher back to its tray, hoping her face cooled on the way.

Moments later she was back with the thick, imitation-leather-bound book. “I don’t know if you realize this, but you’re at the edge of one of the oldest wine regions in California. We have a nice selection of local beverages on our menu. The Santa Cruz Mountains appellation is particularly known for Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, although there are a few outstanding Cabernet vineyards, too.”

She snapped her mouth shut, wishing she could cut down on her ability to over-share.

“Glad to see your enthusiasm for your job.” He gestured to the purple streak in her hair. “Neat color.”

“Thank you. I’ll return in a few minutes.”

She checked in with her other diners, all the while trying to squash her awareness of the masculine vibe emanating from table nine.

He was exactly the type of man she wanted to avoid—too handsome, self-important, and probably involved in a career that would expose him to women who had no care for the feelings of wives. The same type of man her father had been.

Not the kind she wanted at all. Her ideal was a man with a nine-to-five job, who coached Little League in the summers—a man who’d be true to her and to their family.

The memory of her mother’s tears as she told Mandy of her father’s final infidelity pained her. How could men be so unfeeling? This table nine guy was probably the same as every other man with money and power. Thought he could do anything he wanted.

By the time she got back to the table, she’d worked herself into a solid anger. How dare some Southern California snob come into her restaurant and sit at her table?

“What can I get you?”

Her indignation must have seeped into her voice, because he frowned before answering.

There goes my tip.

“I’ll have the Ridge Cabernet,” he said.

Might as well get dinner started, so he’d finish and leave, and she could begin again.

“Are you ready to order or do you need a few more minutes to decide?”

“Have I done something to offend you?” he asked.

“No. The specials are—” She rattled them off, then waited a few seconds, tapping her pen against the bill folder. “Well?”

She internally winced at the snippy tone in her voice. He didn’t deserve this—seemed like a nice-enough guy. Once again she was letting her anger over her past control her present.

He set down the menu and held out his hand. “We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot here, although for the life of me, I don’t understand why. I’m James Lubbock.”

Automatically, she shook his hand, and electricity raced up and down her spine. He had the strong grip of a man in charge. For a moment she wasn’t sure she’d be able to breathe again.

This was so not good.

She jerked her hand back. “What can I get you, James?”

“Was it the hair?”

“What?”

“Was it the remark I made about your hair that got you so mad?”

“No. No. It has nothing to do with you.” Her behavior shamed her. “What brings you to Costanoa?” She made an effort to add warmth to her voice.

He grinned at her. His damn teeth sparkled so much she expected a flash, like she’d seen in commercials for whitening strips.

“I’m an assistant locations manager. I’m working for a company filming a movie up toward Davenport,” he said.

Yep. She’d been right. He was a Hollywood guy. Just like dear old dad. “Oh.” She warred with her returning displeasure.
