BLURB TOUR STOP! SIDNEY SHELTON’S THE TIDES OF MEMORY BY TILLY BAGSHAWE (@TastyBookTours,

BLURB:

On the surface the De Vere family appear to have it all: Wealth, political power, and idyllic life split between their London mansion, Oxfordshire country house and their idyllic, sprawling Martha’s Vineyard estate.

But beneath the gilded façade, and the family’s apparently watertight bonds with one another, lie many secrets, some of them deadly. When the mistakes of youth refuse to stay buried, and generation old hatreds resurface, the De Veres find themselves on the brink of losing everything. How far will each of them go to conceal the truth and protect the family?

EXCERPT:

“Was there anything else, Home Secretary?”

Alexia De Vere smiled. Home Secretary. Surely the most beautiful two words in the English language. Except forPrime Minister, of course. The Tory party’s newest superstar laughed at herself. One step at a time, Alexia.

“No thank you Edward. I’ll call if I need you.”

Sir Edward Manning nodded briefly and left the room. A senior civil servant in his early sixties and bastion of the Westminster political establishment, Sir Edward Manning was as tall and grey and rigid as a matchstick. In the coming months, Sir Edward would be Alexia De Vere’s constant companion: advising, cautioning, expertly guiding her through the maze of Home Office politics. But right now, in these first few hours in the job, Alexia De Vere wanted to be alone. She wanted to savor the sweet taste of victory without an audience. To sit back and revel in the profound thrill of power.

After all, she’d earned it.

Getting up from her desk, she paced around her new office, a vast eyrie of a room perched high in one of the baroque towers of the Palace of Westminster. The interior design was more functional than fabulous. A matching pair of ugly brown sofas at one end (those must go), a simple desk and chair at the other, and a bookcase stuffed with dusty, un-read tomes of political history. But none of that mattered once you saw the view. Spectacular didn’t begin to cover it. Floor to ceiling windows provided a panoramic vista of London, from the towers of Canary Wharf in the east to the mansions of Chelsea in the west. It was a view that said one thing and one thing only.

Power.

And it was all hers.

I am theHome Secretary of Great Britain. The second most important member of Her Majesty’s Government.

REVIEW BY BRANDY! TORMENTED DISCOVERY BY JAYSON JAMES (@JaysonJamesbook)

BLURB:

Justin and Derrick have a secret that they revealed only to their closest friends. They are gay and are now a couple. The story of Justin and Derrick continues as they learn more about being a gay couple in their senior year of high school and the complications that arise from it. Some friends will have their backs while others simply stand on the sidelines. Other friends will be accepting and others will ridicule them.

Sometimes love is almost not enough to save a relationship and both Derrick and Justin begin to have their doubts as they watch relationships around them rise and fall. Justin and Derrick both want to have new experiences, new choices and make new friends, which leads to them questioning their own relationship. They soon discover that some of the people they consider friends have their own secrets, some darker than others. The couple begins to see how people react towards homosexuality and just how people want to deal with it and them.

Will Justin and Derrick be able to hold onto each other while their lives and secrets spiral around them?
Or will they decide to step back and give up on themselves and each other?

REVIEW:

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.  This is the sequel to Finding Your Way.

I am enraptured with Jayson James.  His writing style is real and it flows.  I wasn’t sure I would like reading a story from three different perspectives but he manages to make it move beautifully.

The boys have come out and they are trying to make a successful relationship.  This is difficult in the best of circumstances and I am impressed at the realism of the things they go through.  Being a teenager in love is not easy but you can see how hard it would be to be a gay teenager in love.

I am simply stunned with how real Jayson James makes these characters.  These young and passionate men could be your sons, your nephews or the teenager down the street.  All they want is to love and be loved.  When threats start being made, which we see in real life all the time, the boys struggle to hold onto what they have.  Take a chance on this author and enjoy an amazing story!

REVIEW BY SHAE! CLOSE LIASONS BY ANNA ZAIRES

Blurb:

A dark and edgy romance that will appeal to fans of erotic and turbulent relationships . . .

In the near future, the Krinar rule the Earth. An advanced race from another galaxy, they are still a mystery to us – and we are completely at their mercy.

Shy and innocent, Mia Stalis is a college student in New York City who has led a very normal life. Like most people, she’s never had any interactions with the invaders – until one fateful day in the park changes everything. Having caught Korum’s eye, she must now contend with a powerful, dangerously seductive Krinar who wants to possess her and will stop at nothing to make her his own.

How far would you go to regain your freedom? How much would you sacrifice to help your people? What choice will you make when you begin to fall for your enemy?

WARNING: This book contains strong sexual content and explicit language and is not suitable for readers under 18.

Review:

WOW!!! OH WOW!!! I could not put this book down!!! Anna Zaires will definitely be one of my new favorite authors that I will watch for new books on. “Close Liaisons” was amazing. I will admit that I wasn’t sure about “aliens” and humans but WOW! Korum is super sexy and attentive. Yes, bossy, egotistical, domineering male but definitely swoon worthy. Mia is a meek, naive, young girl who falls into the “spider’s web.” The sex scenes will leave you panting. I caught myself holding my breath as I read thinking DAMN!! Where can I find me a Korum! Can you imagine having to decide whether to betray or stand beside the man you have a love/hate relationship with? I felt myself shifting back and forth trying to decide for Mia. This book has it all! It pulls you right in from the very beginning.

“Close Liaisons” also had its own air of mystery and deception added with romance which makes for an amazing book. Zaires also leaves you wanting more of Korum and Mia’s story. I had to download the second book immediately. You must add this to your TBR list. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a great PA romance novel.

REVIEW BY BRANDY! FINDING OUR WAY BY JAYSON JAMES (@JaysonJamesbook)

BLURB:

Justin Parker and Derrick Wilson have been the best of friends since meeting back in middle school. Both of them are now in their junior year at Chandler High School, and are living the good life as teenagers. They have great girlfriends, plenty of close friends, their own cars, and parents who are well off. As nice as things might look to an outsider, something is missing from both of their lives.

Justin has become the invisible son in the midst of his parents failing marriage. In an effort to get his parent’s attention, Justin keeps getting into trouble. So far he has been able to get away with anything without facing any repercussions, while Derrick is feeling distant and tired of what he feels is a too “perfect family”. He just wants to have a normal social life and spend time with his friends without the pressures from his family to spend time with them.

Beyond individual family dilemmas, Justin and Derrick both have felt for quite some time something was missing from each of their lives. Now these two best friends blurred the lines of friendship in the process to discover what has been missing from their lives and who they really are.

What happens when two best friends cross the boundaries of friendship? Will they able to be happy together? Will they keep their secret from their friends? Will they be able to hide their relationship from their parents?

Justin and Derrick both take turns narrating the story of their junior year in high school and all of the events that take place in each of their lives. Being a teenager can be tough. Being gay can be tougher. For Derrick and Justin they are both, and life can’t get any more complicated.

The story will bring you into the minds and lives of Derrick and Justin, who are caught up in life and how they work together finding their way.

“You tell it from your perspective. Then I will tell it from mine.”

REVIEW:

I was given a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.  A love story is a love story no matter who the characters are.  Justin and Derrick are your typical successful teenagers until a kiss changes things.  Who knew something that was so basic could change so much and define your life in such a fundamental way?

I am an open-minded person and will read anything.  I have no boundaries on my passion for feeding my literary hunger.  Jayson James managed to create something that was different from what I am used to.  I am not talking about the same-sex relationship.  In this day and age that is not a big deal.  I was enthralled with the layers of complexity he created in the relationship.  How often do we see that anymore?  This was a book that seemed so real, I felt like I could call up these young men to see how they were doing.

I cried at the pain you knew they were feeling.  I know a lot of people who have struggled to come out to their friends and family and this is the first time that a story has seemed so mesmerizing and real.  You can feel the emotion ripple off the page.  I am thrilled to discover this author and hope you all check him out!

BLOG TOUR STOP AND GIVEAWAY! REVIEW BY SHAE: Identity Crisis by Eliza Daly (@TastyBookTours, #giveaway, @Crimson_Romance)

BLURB:

When Olivia Doyle’s father dies under suspicious circumstances, rather than inheriting a family fortune, she inherits a new identity. She learns they were placed in the Federal Witness Protection Program when she was five years old. Her father was involved in an art forgery ring and testified against the mob. Brought up not to trust anyone, Olivia has a difficult time relying on U.S. Marshal Ethan Ryder to protect her, and to keep her secret. She fears her father may have continued his life of crime through her art gallery. She has little choice but to depend on Ethan when she realizes someone is now after her. Olivia’s search for the truth leads her and Ethan across country to a family and past she doesn’t remember.

At the age of ten, Ethan witnessed a brutal murder. He vowed when he grew up, he’d protect people in danger. Protecting Olivia is difficult when she won’t trust him. He soon realizes his desire to protect her goes beyond doing his job, but if his judgment becomes clouded by emotions, her safety could be jeopardized.

Can Ethan and Olivia learn to trust each other when they uncover secrets that will change their lives forever?

EXCERPT:

Father Clifford slipped a yellowed envelope from the side pocket of his vestment. “Your father gave this to me many years ago. Asked that I give it to you upon his death.”

She took the envelope from his hand. The organ music faded and a desolate, eerie stillness fell over the church, raising the hairs on the back of her neck. She tightened the shawl around her shoulders. She opened the envelope to find a letter and a newspaper clipping. She started with the letter.

Dear Livvy,
First, know that I loved you more than anything in this world. That’s why I hope someday you’ll forgive me for what I’ve done. Telling you the truth while I was alive could have put your life in danger. Now that I’m gone, I no longer fear for your safety. They would only have hurt you to get to me.
The only way to keep us safe was to enter the Witness Protection Program when you were five. Leaving our friends and family was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I can’t stand the thought of you now being alone. I hope you’ll go back to our family, in the town where I grew up, Five Lakes, Wisconsin. I’d like to be laid to rest there, next to your mother. Please forgive me enough to grant me this one last wish. If you should ever encounter any problems, contact Roy Howard, the U.S. Marshal who relocated us, at 415-334-9076. I’m so sorry. Please believe you were the most important thing to me. You were my life. My Livvy.
Love, Dad

Olivia stood paralyzed, her mind racing, trying to comprehend the letter. Was this some kind of sick joke? For the past twenty-four years her dad had lived in fear that somebody would hurt them? What had forced him to leave behind everyone he’d loved? Everyone she’d probably loved, but obviously couldn’t remember. And if her mom wasn’t buried in San Francisco, whose grave had Olivia been visiting here all these years? She tried to hold the letter steady in her trembling hands. Of course it was vague. Her dad had been a man of few words. However, these few words expressed a lot of emotion, something he’d never been good at doing.

“Is everything all right?” Father Clifford’s voice penetrated her thoughts.

Concern creased the older man’s brow and from the curiosity filling his gray eyes, he had no clue what the envelope contained. Her dad hadn’t even trusted a priest with his secret. Her dad had been the only person she’d ever really trusted, and it turned out she hadn’t truly known him.

She merely nodded, unable to find her voice. She inhaled a deep breath. The scent of beeswax candles and incense did little to calm the panic racing through her veins. She unfolded a clipping from a Chicago newspaper, dated twenty-four years ago. The headline read Art Dealer in Bed with Mob Blows Whistle on Forgery Ring and Vinnie Carlucci. The article included a photo of police officers escorting her dad. She started reading the article. Prominent Chicago art dealer Andrew Donovan confesses to having sold more than a hundred forgeries…

Her stomach dropped. She slapped a hand over her mouth, certain she was about to vomit right there on the pew.

Her dad had been a criminal.

The nature of his crime made it all the more surreal.

She stared in disbelief at the papers in her hand. His name had been Andrew Donovan, not Alex Doyle. Her last name was Donovan. Was her first name actually Olivia? Instead of inheriting a family fortune, she’d inherited a new identity.

Or rather, an old one.

REVIEW BY SHAE:

I grew up in the “Murder She Wrote,” “Matlock,” and “Charlie’s Angels” generation. I love a great mystery and romance combination. Eliza Daly created perfection in this book. I fell in love with all the characters and was pulled into the scenes in the book. Daly kept me intrigued and created just the right amount of suspense and romance to keep me reading all day. As Olivia states in the book about Monet is his artwork, Woman with a Parasol – Madame Monet and Her Son, creates such an image that you can “feel the sunshine against the woman’s skin” and “the warm breeze catching her dress,” so does Eliza Daly create the images and emotions for her readers.

Growing up our parents are our heroes. How would you feel after learning that everything you had been told and raised to believe was not true? After Olivia’s father’s death, she learns that things were not a simple as she believed. She has to learn some hard truths and in the loneliness she finds there are some people she can depend on to love her in spite of her new truths.

This is a must add to your libraries.

Phantom, Dark Musicals Book #1

The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found
enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play
that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses
“Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the
middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker
who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her
character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and
basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely
appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured
artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on
and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are
hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca
receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is
Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real
life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca
doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as
she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is
stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be
revealed.
