REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY!! Eternal Service by Regina Morris (@ReginaMorris) #giveaway

I was contacted by the author and asked to review this book.  I was not compensated for my honest review.

Wow.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this story in the beginning.  I was grabbed by the scruff of the neck and immersed in a vampire story that I have not run across before.  I am awed and captivated by the story that has been created.  I am amazed to see a new take on vampires and a version that has not been written to death.  Raymond is coven master of his family and works for the government.  He runs a highly secret organization called The Colony.  Their mission is to protect the government.

Alex is a career military woman who strives to recover from a brutal attack several years prior.  When she is vetted and offered the position of Director of the Colony, she knows that this is the promotion that she has been waiting for.  When she discovers that the people she will be working with are vampires, she is scared and hesitant.  After she gets to know Raymond, Sulie and the others she realizes that she has nothing to fear from them.  She also realizes that Raymond fits the man she has been dreaming of for years.  Finding love when she wasn’t expecting it gives her pause but Raymond was made for her.

When danger attacks on their own turf, these two take matters into their own hands and Alex shows Raymond what she is made of.  Most humans aren’t able to take down a vampire but Alex is not your everyday human.  Maybe that is why Raymond finds it so easy to love her.

This was a great story and I am anxious for the next story in this series.

BLOG TOUR STOP AND GIVEAWAY!! Secrets of the Sky by Jaye Shields (@jayeshields, @Crimson_Romance @TastyBookTours) #giveaway

Excerpt from Amazon:

Sparrow Reed might look like an angel, but she’s a witch with a back full of enchanted tattoos and she’s not afraid to use them. When her best friend’s life is threatened by an evil Goddess, Sparrow joins an epic battle against the demons sent to destroy her home. She never realized that the night she almost died, her life would truly begin.

Rowen Aerion of the Knights of the Fog was sent to the human realm to tip the balance in an unfair fight. But when he arrives on Alcatraz Island to aid the mortal humans, he sees an angel fighting demons. But she’s not an angel, she’s human. And according to a soothsayer, his love for her will mean her demise.

Sparrow is thrust into a world she never imagined existed, yet nothing thrills her like the handsome warrior who refuses her seduction. When Rowen’s rejection sends Sparrow into the arms of a dangerous rebel, Rowen must decide which is more dangerous, the oracle’s grim warning, or forsaking his heart’s sole desire.

I am a fan forever of Jaye Shields!!  I have to admit that I became intrigued with Rowen in Secrets of the Fog and had a feeling that Sky was going to be about him and Sparrow.  Thankfully, Jaye knew what I wanted and delivered!

Rowen is a Knight of the Fog and has never seen anyone that captivates him the way that Sparrow does.  I liked that the beginning of the book retold some of Secrets of the Fog from different perspectives.  It let me understand more of the characters and to form bonds with them.  Sparrow’s aunts are amazing witches and their infectious love of life leaps from the pages.  I had a feeling that Sparrow’s mom, Egret had more going for her then what we knew and I am so delighted that she was able to find her happy ending.  I was glad that Rowen took a chance and told Sparrow how he feels even after he was told the future involving death.

I want to know more about Pyrrhus.  The Quetzalem has a powerful ally in Sparrow, not to mention the High King and the Knights of the Fog.  I can’t wait to see his rescue and discover where Jaye takes these fabulous characters.

REVIEW!! Secrets of the Fog by Jaye Shields (@jayeshields, @TastyBookTours)

Excerpt from Amazon:

When the dryad Tera’s friends inform her that the portal on Alcatraz Island is buzzing with an arrival, she thinks her goddess mother has come to visit. When Tera arrives at the portal to welcome her, she doesn’t find her mother, she finds a gigantic otherworldly warrior causing mass destruction among the San Francisco tourists. Being a forest dryad born from the Goddess of the Hunt has its perks, and kicking ass is one of them.

Sabin is six-feet-six of hard-bodied soldier, used to subduing demons twice his size. One day after chasing an elusive smoke demon through a portal into the human realm, Sabin is brought to his knees by a beautiful woman, literally. After arriving at a pier full of dead bodies, Tera issues a passionate smack-down before Sabin can explain that he’s the good guy.

He’s just in time: an an ancient grudge has come to life. Eris, the Goddess of Chaos, has held a bitter hatred for Tera’s mother, Artemis, for over 400 years – and now she’s ready to destroy all dryads – including Tera.

REVIEW:

OMG!  How do you even begin to review a Jaye Shields book?  I am a fan for life and actually purchased this book for my own pleasure.  Shortly after, I was invited to do a blog tour for the release of Secrets of the Sky.

Tera is a dryad which are daughters of the Goddess of the Hunt, Artemis.  She has remained chaste and has developed fighting skills that honor her mother and keep her city safe.  Tera’s best friend is Sparrow, who is a sprite of a wiccan that can transform into birds.    Throw in some older auntie witches and I feel like a pina colada!

Tera goes to close a portal in the city and discovers a sexy, hulk of a man name Sabin wrecking havoc.  In the middle of this battle, she discovers that he is protecting her city and she reconsiders her opinion of him.  Sabin doesn’t know what to make of the dryad but he is intrigued.  As a Knight of the Fog, he has seen a lot of women but Tera is the first to touch his heart.

Jaye has managed to create a different view of the paranormal and I am awed by her incredible talent and skill to draw me in and keep me captivated!  Besides, any book that incorporates hot guys, battles, and coffee; well let’s just say it is permanently embedded in my kindle!

Join me on Monday, February 11th for my review on the 2nd book in this incredible series and a giveaway!!

Book Synopsis

High school senior Victoria “Tori” Reeve has it pretty good. She’s rich, she’s smart, and she’s popular. What more could a girl ask for? Sure, she’s a little lonely, what with being single and her best friend going off to college and all, but she’s got her work at the Spaulding Crisis Center to keep her busy. When she gets a new boss in the very easy on the eyes form of Isaac Larsen, suddenly her volunteer work feels a lot less like work. Even if he does seem to cause Tori to break out into spontaneous fits of foot in mouth disease. Somehow in spite of her blunderitis, Isaac still seems to be interested in her in a more-than-employer or even more-than-friends kind of way.

So really she should have known that things would go sideways.

Trouble comes to Spaulding, and that trouble seems to be centered on Tori and the Crisis Center. Is she really the focus? Or does this all have to do with the new mysterious man in her life? In her efforts to find out, Tori stumbles across some secrets. Skeletons that might have been better off left in the closet. As it turns out, Spaulding is a hot spot for bad blood…

I am in love with this book!!  Tori is one of those characters that you bond with at the beginning of the story and feel like you can reach in the book and shake some sense into her.  Isaac is an interesting character and I could not really get a read on him.  He just rubbed me the wrong way.  I don’t like possessive guys and he was just a tool.  Now, Drew on the other hand…

I have a weakness for guys like him and there were so many times I wanted to scream at Tori!!!  This was a new take on a vampire story and let me tell you that Ginny nailed it with this one!  SPOILER ALERT!

When it comes out that the MAIN reason that Isaac is into Tori is that she is a rare breed of human that can have a child with a vampire, I was going crazy! I knew there was something that I was missing! Drew is the perfect best friend and I can see a whole lot of growth in this relationship. I do think that Tori has her hands full with finding new friends since…you need to read the story for that part. Let’s just say keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.

REVIEW:

What a wonderful book!  I completely enjoyed it.  This is the story of Prudence Bosworth and Rhys de Winter, the Duke of St. Cyres.  Prudence is a seamstress who has been on her own for over eleven years.  She is surprised when the Rhys, the Duke of St. Cyres is kind to her when she is mistreated by a lady of the ton, when she is fixing her hem at a party.  Rhys is desperately on a hunt for a wealthy heiress since the title that has come to on the death of his uncle is completely bankrupt.  The creditors are circling and it is a matter of time.  As fate would have it, Prudence is shocked to find out that the father she has never known was a wealthy American entrepreneur and left his entire fortune to her, on one condition, of course.  She must marry within one year.  When Rhys discovers the lady that he found luscious and beautiful is also wealthy, he decides he will do or say anything to get her to marry him.  What happens when the truth is revealed?  Read this amazing story and find out.

REVIEW!! Without Regret by R.L. Mathewson

EXCERPT FROM AMAZON:

Chris Williams is used to making sacrifices. For years he’s done his duty by his family and his calling as he awaited the one person that was meant for him. When she finally came into his life she was nothing like the woman he’d expected. Instead of being the warrior ready to help him protect his family and the humans under his care he got…..A computer geek named Isabella, who somehow managed to get her name on every Master’s hit list. One minute she admits that she’d made a foolish mistake and the next she’s kidnapped, held hostage by a crazy cult who steals her chocolate and she’s sure is after her program, a program she has no plans on giving up anytime soon. As she tries to keep her wits about her the sexiest man she’s ever seen claims her, only he doesn’t seem to happy about it. It’s clear that he doesn’t want her, but the stubborn man just won’t let her go even when it’s clear that he may not have a choice.

REVIEW:

Chris has one true passion and that is to protect his family at all costs.  He has been patiently waiting for the other half of his soul.  A Sentinel mate that will help him protect all those that he loves.  What he gets is a stubborn, weak woman, that he wants to get rid of but craves with a hunger he never imagined.

Isabella doesn’t know what kind of freakish cult she has landed in but she knows that it keeps getting more strange with every passing moment.  When the hottest guy she has laid eyes on, keeps telling her that she belongs to him and that they are married.  She knows she needs to get the hell out of dodge.  Not really happening though.  She does know that she has never felt anything like what she feels for Chris.

As they run from every known Master, minion and demon that is hunting them, Chris and Isabella will discover what passion really is.

I understood why Chris felt that he needed to protect Isabella and get her to an island.  I just felt like he was doing her a huge disservice by not allowing her to make the choice for herself.

REVIEW!! Tall, Dark and Lonely by R. L Mathewson

Excerpt from Amazon:

When the mother that abandoned them years ago suddenly shows up and moves them to New Hampshire, Madison has no choice but to go or lose her family. Shoving her dreams aside yet again, she tries to make a life for her siblings only to discover that nothing is going the way that it should. It’s really cold. Her fifteen year old sister acts like a hooker in training. Men act funny around her. Her boss is a real jerk. She feels like an outsider. Her best friend turns out to be a mouthy sixteen year old kid and the incredibly handsome guy renting the room adjoining hers not only hogs the bathroom, taking three showers a day and leaving her with cold water, but he also has a secret. A secret that she becomes a bit obsessed with and can’t let go no matter how many times she’s warned off.

Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans. What was the point? They came and went and he remained. This time wouldn’t be any different or so he thought. When his landlady told him that her grandchildren were moving in he didn’t expect much, well other than to be left alone. What he didn’t expect was to have to fight bloodlust every time he so much as caught the scent of his delectable neighbor’s blood or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him. If that’s not bad enough, a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the beautiful, irritating, neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries to get it.

Review:

If you follow me on a regular basis, then you know that I am a R.L. Mathewson fan.  I am hoping one of these days I will get the nerve to contact her for an interview!

Madison has been raising her siblings for years, while her mother runs the roads and leaves them behind.  When she shows up and tells them she is moving to New Hampshire to stay with her mother, Madison knows she has to go to protect the family.  When she arrives and realizes that she finally has an ali in her grandmother, she takes the first deep breath in years.

Ephraim has known pain unlike any other over the years.  The years he spent in the magistrates hell of a prison, taught him to never show emotion.  After the loss of his brother and family, he learned to go through the motions of fringe relationships and not to become to close to anyone.  Until Madison.

She is the first human in a lifetime that has managed to become everything to him.  When he is attacked by a Master who is hellbent on walking in the light.  As a Pyte, Ephraim walks in the light, has all the perks of being a vampire, and is truly immortal.  You can see why the Master would want his blood.  However, it kills vampires when they take it by force.

Madison doesn’t know what to make of Ephraim at first.  The detective has been living in her grandmother’s boarding house for several years and seems to have taken the most delinquent child in the school under his wing.  Madison has gotten a teaching position at the local school and has been the monitor in detention.  She knows there is more to Chris but she has no idea how much.

This book is the beginning of an amazing story and I don’t want to fill it with spoilers.

The Original Sin (Book #3 in the Skye Morrison Vampire Series) by J.L. McCoy (@AuthorJLMcCoy)

Excerpt from Amazon:

Skye Morrison’s life lately has been anything but ordinary. Attempting to pull together the pieces of her life that have been ripped to shreds after being kidnapped and tortured by Amun- who happens to be the father of all vampires-her dreams are haunted by memories of those recent fateful and horrific events. Skye struggles with her split feelings and the raw sexual tension with her lover, Jameson Doyle and boss Archer Rhys-the continuous object of her sexual fantasies. Residing at Archer’s lakeside mansion with the rest of the vampire clan, Skye attempts to maintain a normal routine. With the vampire army, The Faithful, attempting unsuccessfully to capture Amun, her nightmares take her down a twisted spiral of entrapment and terror, taking its toll on her daily life. Haunted and hunted by the psychotic and mind-twisting Amun, Skye goes through dark and violent changes, revealing a side of herself she didn’t know existed and ultimately leading to a shocking conclusion.

This is the third book in the series and Skye is having issues trying to figure out which hottie she wants in her life.  Since the kidnapping, she has been struggling to regain her normal pattern of life.  However, once you step into the realm of the supernatural, normal takes on a whole new meaning.  Her life as she knows it will never be the same.

I purchased this book because I had to see where the story was leading me and I have to say that this author is just cruel.  LOL!  I love where it is heading and can’t wait till the next one comes out!
