Oh, kittens, I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to be asked to have Lisa Renee Jones do a guest blog!   Talk about a fangirl moment!

Lisa Renee Jones:  Thanks for having me today to talk about THE INSIDE OUT TRILOGY
Inspired by a journal my fiancee found when buying and selling storage units (yes like the show but before the show) I call this series my SHADES OF GREY meets BASIC INSTINCT. Why Shades of Grey? The dark, damaged characters and passion. Why Basic Instinct? Because the main character Sara finds an erotic journal and begins to read. Sara becomes as obsessed with the writer of the journal as the writer is with the two men in the journal, and they with her. She seeks out the woman to be sure she is safe and becomes absorbed in her life, where she meets two powerful men — one of which draws her into an intensely passionate affair.
Now I’m excited to get to release Rebecca’s Journals that were lost and never found. These tell her story and her erotic journey and they are packed with clues to what happens in BEING ME. They are perfect to read between IF I WERE YOU and BEING ME but they can be read alone as well.

Here’s a little about IF I WERE YOU and a excerpt:

Book 1: If I Were You

Book 2: Being Me

Book 3: Revealing Us
He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I so do. I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away. He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.
A short excerpt from IF I WERE YOU:
His fingers knot in my hair and I gasp at the unexpected bite of his grip, holding me steady. “Is that all you got?” I demand, shocked at how much I want more. How much I want whatever is beneath his surface.
I’m not scared. I’m aroused. I’m ready.
His eyes probe mine, his expression hard, intense. “I thought you were a good little school teacher.”
“You’re corrupting me,” I declare, “and I seem to like it.” I barely issue the challenge before he’s pulling my mouth to his, and he is kissing me with unrestrained, burning passion. I taste the part of him I want to know, the part he’s afraid of, and I burn to know more. Maybe he’s right. Maybe I am playing with fire, but I cannot stop myself. Beyond reason, I will push him until he reveals everything.

Sins of the Father (Book #2 in the Skye Morrison Vampire Series) by J.L. McCoy (@AuthorJLMcCoy)

Excerpt from Amazon:

After a shocking admission by Archer Rhys, Skye Morrison and the rest of The Mausoleum’s vampire crew have to deal with the aftermath of Houston business owner and fellow vampire Greyson Mead’s murder. A gruesome discovery in Skye’s driveway forces her out of her house and temporarily into Archer’s lakeside mansion with her co-workers Trey, Hunter, Quinn, Seamus, Lochlan, Jameson, and of course the ever jealous Aoife. Skye must now live under the same roof with the two men she wants most and things are bound to get complicated. With a psychotic murderer on the loose hell bent on killing vampires and the appointed army of The Faithful having no luck in finding them, will Skye’s new boss and co-workers live to see next week? Will Skye make it out of Archer’s mansion alive?

What do you do when you are faced with having to move in with two of the hottest guys on the planet?  I have to admit that I am jealous of Skye for all these hot guys!  I love that they put her into a training program and are going out of their way to make sure she is protected.

When they found the surprises (trying not to spoil it!) in the driveway, I was ready to pack up and run for the hills!  Great continuing story in this series and I am dying for more!

I purchased this book for my own enjoyment.

Checkmate: A Neighbor from Hell Novel by R.L. Mathewson (@Rlmathewson)

Excerpt from Amazon:

There’s nothing worse than living next door to your childhood nemesis, except maybe being forced to share your dream project with him, being blackmailed into going along with something that was just wrong on so many levels, and having your hot cocoa stolen by the person that drove you to drink it in the first place.
As long as she has plenty of hot cocoa, a pair of pliers on hand and is able to resist Connor O’Neil’s bad boy charm then Rory James should be able to make it through this project with her sanity intact. If not…..
She’d probably face a few more nights in jail, have a few more restraining orders slapped against her and lose her heart to the man that ruined her life.

Rory and Connor have been archenemies since preschool.  There is not a prank that they have not committed against the other.  They have been arrested, banned and joked all over town.  How sad is it that the two of them can’t be in the same restaurant at the same time?  When both of their construction companies are asked to take on a time-sensitive joint project, they know that the time has come to change their ways.

Connor thinks he is going to just head up the entire project and Rory can be at his beck and call.  He really doesn’t understand that Rory is the head of her own projects and not the “little woman” that Connor acts like she is.  It was good to see the playful side of these two characters and I loved the tie in to the Bradfords!

Sometimes the person that we torment the most is the one we love the best.

I purchased this book for my own pleasure.

Perfection: A Neighbor from Hell Novel by R.L. Mathewson (@Rlmathewson)

Excerpt from Amazon:

Zoe is used to taking care of herself and has long ago accepted that if anything bad was going to happen, it was going to happen to her. So when she loses her job over something most bosses would probably be happy with and her life starts going down hill from there she doesn’t expect it to get any better. She certainly didn’t expect any help from the loud jerk next door, but then again she has nothing to lose so puts her trust in him and hopes for the best. What she didn’t expect was the once in a lifetime opportunity that he offers her through an arrangement where they both benefit and no one is supposed to get hurt, but she should have known better because her luck has never been that good.

Like most Bradfords, Trevor has a soft spot for food, but that’s about all. He leads a pretty straightforward life and likes to keep things simple and that includes his relationships. He wants the perfect woman and knows exactly what she’ll be like. So when he discovers much to his horror that he’s thinking about his frumpy little neighbor he decides the best way to get his head straight is by working her out of his system. He’ll keep her around, but only until he finds perfection.

Thank you for creating a woman who is not perfect!  I love the fact that Zoe is plump and doesn’t have your typical Barbie doll figure.  I felt so bad for her when she does the right thing and ends up getting fired.  It makes it difficult to want to do the right thing again.  Zoe is afraid to let anyone get to close since she has never had anyone she could depend on.  Trevor is an enigma and she doesn’t know what to think about that.

Trevor is a Bradford through and through and has the same food fetish that they whole family seems to have.  It was nice to see Trevor wanting to help Zoe even though he at first had no intentions toward her.  This family amazes me and makes me laugh!  I love the fact that Trevor convinced Zoe to read Twilight to him through the walls.  That was one of those moments that just made me laugh.  Jason and Trevor are two of a kind and they are the kind of guys that you want in your life!

I purchased this book for my own pleasure and will be keeping it on my Kindle.

Playing for Keeps (A Neighbor from Hell Novel) by R.L. Mathewson (@Rlmathewson)

Excerpt from Amazon:

Done with being the world’s biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn’t expect was to sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won’t let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.

The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers. After he decides to take her under his wing he can’t help but that notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only left is to convince her that this is anything but a game.

I loved this book and laughed so hard that my husband thought I was losing my mind!!  Haley is your typical doormat that finds it easier to let bygones be bygones rather then be involved in a confrontation.  When she sees the neighbor from hell attacking the flowers that she had received from her grandmother, Haley decides that enough is enough!

Jason doesn’t know what to do when Haley attacks him.  He was always shocked that she let him get away with as much as he did.  Realizing that there is a lot more to Haley then he ever thought before, he decides to make her a part of his circle.  The Bradford family are freaking hysterical.  The whole idea with their appetities kept me in tears the whole book.  I have never in my life heard of people getting banned from restaurants and stuff and this was too funny.  I loved the fact that their whole family was like that and the dynamic between the characters was astounding.

I purchased this book for my own pleasure and will be keeping it on my Kindle.

Blood of the Son (Book #1 in the Skye Morrison Vampire Series) by J.L. McCoy (@AuthorJLMcCoy)

Excerpt from Amazon:

Skye Morrison has a lot in common with today’s college graduates; she’s neck-deep in student loan debt and desperate for a better paying job. For four years, the nightlife of Austin, Texas (home of Skye’s Alma Mater) has satiated her thirst for good music, a revamp in fashion and men – especially local musician, Jameson Doyle, but her spot as a waitress at Drop Kick Dan’s bar wasn’t going to cut the slack. A personal life troubled by a hounding ex only made matters worse. Skye was never the damsel in distress type, but when an unexpected public shouting match with her ex turned physical, a savior disguised as a heavenly gorgeous Irishman came to her rescue. Archer Rhys, a businessman with a lot to offer, doesn’t exactly sweep Skye off her feet but she couldn’t help but to be captivated by his ravenous good looks. When Archer makes Skye a lucrative job offer as his personal assistant for his new downtown Austin club, The Mausoleum, she quickly finds out that she may have gotten more than she bargained for.

In this breakout novel, J.L. McCoy takes the reader on an indulgent descent into a modern-day counterculture of nighttime extravagances. Close your eyes, succumb to intense passion, sip a Vampire’s Kiss and let the pounding of the club music overtake you. With animated detail, you’ll find yourself on an unimaginable journey deep into the lair and grasp of Archer Rhys and his mind games. Distracted by Jameson’s charm and blinded by Archer’s allure and generous paycheck, Skye’s new life invokes the reader’s empathy as she’s surrounded in a whirlwind of desire, deceit and even death. Blood of the Son; this isn’t your little sister’s vampire novel.

Okay, kiddos.  This is a new author for me and I must say that she has become a permanent addition to my gotta have list.  I was completely wrapped up in this book and when it ended, I immediately downloaded the next one.

Skye is your typical college grad.  She works, has loans, a stalker ex (who doesn’t, right?) and has to figure out what her next step in life is going to be.  She knows she needs to find something that will help her pay off some of her student loans so she starts looking.  When stalkerboy turns physical and she is “rescued” by Archer Rhys, she stumbles onto a whole new ballgame.  Archer is hot, successful and yummy abd just happens to have a position open that he wants Skye to interview for.

Skye gets the job and everything is starting to look up for her.  While on a date with the hotter then hell lead singer from a local band, Jameson, she discovers that these two sexy guys are brothers.  What’s a girl to do when you want your cake and to eat it too?

I am stoked to discover an new author that writes the way I love to read!

Fated (The Vampire Destiny Series Book #1) By Alexandra Anthony

Excerpt from Amazon:

Chasing the secrets of her past…

Josephine Anderson is a 28 year old psychic empath. Isolated and alone, she’d given up on finding love because of her “gift”. She’s haunted by her vivid dreams about a mysterious man that is her destiny…

Her world is turned upside down…

When she meets Stefan Lifsten, she’s surprised to discover that he’s the man from her dreams. He’s tall, blond and drop-dead gorgeous, but he has his own secrets to hide. He’s a millennia old vampire that’s been on a quest to find her after his own vision 200 years ago…

Their fates finally collide…

Will their fated love and desire be enough to keep them together as she becomes entrenched in the world of vampires and her past unravels?

What do you do when the man you have been dreaming about is a walking, talking real person who personifies sex?  Take him home, of course!!  Josie is shocked to realize that the man who plays the starring role in her erotic dreams is real and apparently is attracted to her.  When she discovers that he is a vampire that has been in love with her for over 200 years, flabbergasted doesn’t begin to cover it.

Josie’s has been searching for her birth parents since her adoptive parents died.  With no other family and few friends, she is used to not having anyone care about her.  Suddenly having a sexy vampire boyfriend that can’t get enough of her is a little challenging for her.

I love the fact that Stefan understands Josie’s “gift” and has a similar one.  This story was good and I enjoyed it.  Can’t wait to see where Ms. Anthony decides to take these characters!

Born to Darkness Book #1 (Immortal Destiny Series) by Lorraine Kennedy

Excerpt from Amazon:

Alec’s music is as dark as his vampire kiss is deadly, but Nicole will risk everything, including her life, to love him.

Born to Darkness is book 1 in the 4 Book Immortal Destiny Series.

Nicole Ashe is the average American girl, except that she happens to work for a vampire and doesn’t realize it. But all that changes when her boss sends her to convince a local rock musician – heartthrob, to help them retrieve an ancient relic that could be the answer to the vampire’s curse. Nicole soon discovers that Alec is a vampire … and completely irresistible.

There is something about Nicole that stirs Alec’s hunger nearly beyond control, but he would do anything to protect her … even from himself.

Nicole is destined for a world of darkness that she cannot even begin to imagine, and love that can transcend eternity.

I have a thing for vampire rock stars and I really thought this book was going to be a hit with me.  It was a decent read but not earth-shattering.  Alec is a vampire that tried to do the right thing and stay away from Nicole but the light in her eyes calls to him.

Nicole works as an assistant to a private investigator named Ethan.  Ethan is a vampire on a quest and he draws Nicole into his world.  When a powerful evil threatens the life of Nicole, Alec is determined to do everything in his power to save her, even if that means leaving her behind.

Nicole wants to discover the place that Ethan is searching for in order to see her little brother again.  She has never forgiven herself for his death and she believes the answer lies in her discoveries.  Nicole is told that to discover the place of light and to destroy the evil that threatens them all, she must locate her missing sisters.  This is book 1 in a 4 part series and I would be interested in seeing where the story goes.
